Power in Jesus’ Name

Today is All Hallows Eve, more commonly known as Halloween. For many Christians, this is a very dark and demonic day. Many of the traditions associated with Halloween have pagan roots which include: ghosts, witchcraft, skeletons, black cats and jack-o-lanterns. All of these things represent a celebration of the dark—a celebration of Satan.
During the Middle Ages, the Catholic Church fought the paganism of this day and announced the celebration of All Saints Day, which is November first, making today, All Hallows Eve, the evening before All Saints Day. However, proclaiming the day for the Lord has not stopped the pagan celebration.
We have to remember, every day belongs to the Lord and we do not have to fear the dark, because we are of the light—we are children of God. There is not a single demon who can prevail against our Lord Jesus Christ. As we read through the Gospels, we see Him cast out demons, and further, we see His disciples cast out demons in the Book of Acts (Acts 16:18).
Today, while many will participate in the traditions of Halloween, we have nothing to fear. We can enjoy this day that the Lord has made knowing the power we have in the name of Jesus Christ. No weapon can come against us as we walk in the Lord, so we should fear no evil.
Our arch-enemy is to be cast into hell—and it will take only one angel to bind him!
