Never Neglect God’s House

For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the offering of the grain, of the new wine and the oil, to the storerooms where the articles of the sanctuary are, where the priests who minister and the gatekeepers and the singers are; and we will not neglect the house of our God. - >Nehemiah 10:39

We have now come to the final conclusion statement of Nehemiah 10:39 …we will not neglect the house of our God. This last important phrase stands out, because God’s people had been guilty of neglecting the house of God in the past. They had their priorities all wrong. Remember, instead of taking care of God’s house, they were more concerned about building their own houses:

“Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this templeto lie in ruins?” Now therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways!”(Haggai 1:4).

In today’s society, people are neglecting to come to church. Instead, they want to stay in the comfort of their own homes watching the service from televisions or other devices; but what about serving the Lord and fellowshipping with other believers? Hebrews 10:24-25 exhorts us not to be isolated in our worship of God:

And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

Listen, I want you to remember one thing; you are the temple of the living God––the house of God. I beg you, by the mercies of the living God, to take to heart what God has said in His Word concerning giving and you will be blessed. We are living in the last days before the Lord returns. Seriously, we should be in church and be prayerful while we still can!

But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious
and watchful in your prayers.
