The Bible teaches us that we will reap consequences when we sow seeds of sin, but when we sow seeds of righteousness we will have great reward. We have an opportunity to plant seeds in the hearts of each person we encounter and we should choose to plant seeds of the Gospel.

Just as onions are made up of many layers, each individual person has layers themselves. In the Church, it is essential that we put aside our differences and look past all the “onion rings” of each person and love them because God loves them.

Joseph in the New Testament was an average guy who decided to obey God and became Jesus’ step-father. When we become Christians we are no longer “average Joes” and only human. The moment we become believers God lives in us through His Holy Spirit and directs us to do His work.

When we blend families we have all the odds against us for everything to go smoothly. We must make sure that we are depending on God and allowing His work and leading to take place in the relationships that are built.

The Christian life is meant to be lived out communally so that we can have examples in those who are ahead of us for how they’re living a godly life. As they follow Christ and we imitate them, there can be others behind us who can follow us, ultimately everyone being led to Jesus.

When we realize how much we’ve sinned, we can then realize how great God’s forgiveness is that He extends to us. Because of Christ’s death on the cross that paid the price for all of our sin, we have the opportunity to accept the pardon that is offered to us.

When we continually do work for God out of our own strength we end up tired and worn down. It is good to believe what we read in Scripture and follow that up with obedience to do what it says, but we must also apply faith in that He will do what He has promised in and through us.

Jesus offers to live in us forever, giving us eternal life, and we must respond with obedience to the things He tells us to do. Although He may have us go places that are difficult, it’s better that we face those challenges with Him instead of face the inevitable trials of life without Him.

It is easy to criticize someone in authority, however the Bible teaches us to pray for them instead. No person that has been placed in authority has been put there outside of God’s sovereignty and we must honor their authority while praying for God to work in and lead their heart and decisions.

There are numerous stories in the Bible of people who made some big mistakes and yet God still used them to accomplish His work in the world. While it’s important that we do not continue to live in sin, there is nothing that we can do that God can’t turn around and use for His glory.

The only place that can ever truly have the claim that “what happens here stays here” is the foot of the cross. When we accept Christ’s forgiveness and love, we leave our old selves behind and we become new creations. We must never forget that bad seed produces bad fruit no matter where we plant it, and good seed produces good fruit no matter how long it takes to grow.
