In Ephesians 5, Paul talks about the way wives are to submit to their husbands and how husbands are to love their wives. While this is an excellent tool for right relationship within a marriage, it is also a picture of Christ and the Church. The Church, made up of all believers, is His bride, and as such we are to submit to Christ in whatever He calls us to do. Christ loves His bride, so much so that He died for her. So we now have a choice to either go head to head with Him who loves us, or let Him be the head of His Church and submit to His will.

There are many people who are addicted to something, especially something that has a negative effect on their life. The only way to truly be freed from that addiction is to not only get sober but to get clean. If the factors that led to the addiction in the first place remain, relapse will always be inevitable. Those factors must be taken out of the equation for any hope of a full recovery from addiction. Jesus is the only one who can truly clean a person’s life up, and he waits patiently asking, “Do you want to be made well?”

At some point in our lives, God gives us a calling, however it is common for many to ignore it. The reason why we ignore the calling that God gives for our life is because we may feel that by following that calling we will lose our life, all the while overlooking the fact that we are accomplishing that by not following God’s call. If God has called you in the past and you ignored His call, be willing to respond and ask Him to give you that call again. It is amazing the impact that one yielded life can make on the world.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
