Grace Without Boundaries part 1

May 9, 2023

On today’s program, pastor Al continues his in depth look at Galatians chapter two. In order to really understand what the Apostle Paul is saying in this chapter, it’s important to know what was going on in the churches in Galatia at the time. In a word, the problem was hypocrisy.

On today’s broadcast we continue with the Apostle Paul’s testimony. In his testimony we see his simple obedience to the Lord and not just an emotional response. It’s so true that we prove the reality of our faith by our obedience. No doubt the Lord is calling to you - as He did to Saul.

As we begin a look at Galatians chapter two today, Paul has set the stage for his theme in this letter. The churches in Galatia had fallen victim to false teaching. Of course, there was some backlash, but in chapter two, Paul defends his authority to preach the gospel, and he defends the gospel message as well.

As we continue in Galatians one today, we are going to continue to see Paul’s angry reaction to his beloved friends in Galatia turning to a false gospel. Paul had taught them a gospel based on the grace of God, and the Galatians had turned to a gospel of works. Paul was thoroughly ticked! As Al has mentioned before, this is the only letter Paul wrote that contains absolutely no encouragement. It’s a good old fashioned dressing-down!

Today we begin a series in Paul’s letter to the Galatian church. The underlying theme of this series is going to be one word - grace. The churches in Galatia had strayed away from the truths Paul had taught them when the church was formed. Salvation through grace was the corner stone, and the Galatians had listened to the wrong teachers after Paul left, and now they believed they had to work for their salvation.

It’s been well said...  “you can tell who your God is by what you think about the most, and who you seek to please the most.” To help assure your God is the right God - and settle this issue once and for all, let’s join pastor Al for our final study in Joshua - in Joshua twenty four.
May 2, 2023
We have been enjoying an in-depth look at the book of Joshua lately, and today we begin the final message in this great series. Here we see Joshua’s final encouragement to God’s people. Joshua twenty-four, verse fifteen contains the well-known words, “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”. Is there any better way to live than that?

On today’s broadcast we will hear the Apostle Paul’s testimony and defense before the Jews. Turn in your Bible to Acts chapter twenty two. It’s there we find the apostle Paul finally given his long awaited opportunity to share Jesus with his fellow country men, the Jews. And isn’t it instructive that he does so with his testimony.

It’s been observed that we hold tight to what is most important... and we will let go of those things that don’t matter. But sometimes - we let go of what should be the most important to us. There are some things we should never let go! Pastor Al will give us encouragement to hold fast to the Lord and His word - from Joshua chapters twenty-one through  twenty-three.

Today we continue with Al’s verse by verse series through Joshua. We are nearing the end of our series, and today as we look at chapter twenty-one, we see a long list of property that was given by Joshua to other people groups. Why is this important? We’ll find out today.

Al attended Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, graduating in 1977 with a degree in Biblical Studies. In 1991 Al and his family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and two years later he joined the staff of Calvary Chapel Albuquerque as an assistant pastor and co-worship leader. In the spring of 1997 the Lord called Al and his family back to Colorado Springs to pastor Calvary Worship Center. In 2006, Al earned his Master’s degree and in 2012 he earned his Doctorate degree in Ministry from Trinity Southwest University in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
