From a Tortured Soul

January 11, 2024

It’s a thing… after the holidays, at the start of the New Year there are a lot of people hoping to start “a-new”, clean out the ole blood stream, detoxify!  You know, this might be a great time to Spiritually “Detox” as well?

All this month on TCH we are hearing from Gene Appel and Mike Breaux.  Gene and Mike minister with East Side Christian Church with Campuses in Southern California, Nevada, and Minnesota.

There are many things that can be toxic to our Spiritual walk.  You know what I mean, things that clog us up, weigh us down, cloud our spiritual vision.  Things like a hurried, over packed life, a tortured Soul, a heavy heart, even a cluttered mind.  This month we’re unpacking how we can detoxify our souls.

Harboring a secret sin, or an unresolved hurt can be poison to our souls, they can be torture!  But there is a way out, resolution, a way to Detoxify.  Going beyond forgiveness, here’s Gene Appel with a tough but effective, Biblical way to detox our tortured souls.

The holidays are over, the relatives have gone home, you’re recovering from so much turkey and Christmas goodies… For many the new year is a time to “Detox”.  Perhaps this might be a great time to Spiritually “Detox” as well.    This month on TCH we will be hearing from Gene Appel and Mike Breaux.  Gene and Mike minister with East Side Christian Church with Campuses in Southern California, Nevada, and Minnesota.    There are many things that can be toxic to our Spiritual walk.  You know what I mean, things that clog us up, weigh us down, cloud our spiritual vision.  Things like a hurried over packed life, a tortured Soul, a heavy heart, even a cluttered mind.  This month we’re taking a look at how we can detoxify our souls and impower our relationship with God.    It's called Hurry Sickness and it is embedded in our Culture.  But it can be distracting, detrimental, even deadly to our souls.  Here’s Mike Breaux to coach us into a new, less maddening pace of life…

All through the month of December we have been taking in the good news brought to the shepherds by the Angels on the night of Jesus’ birth.  But here we are, following all the celebrations of Christmas, and like those shepherds on that incredible night so long ago, the question remains; what, now?   This week we welcome a message by Bob Russell; “After the Angels have Gone”.    Bob, served as the pastor of Southeast Christian Church for 40 years before retiring.  Southeast, one of the largest churches in America, is located in Louisville, Kentucky.    Feel the moment?  The year is over, the holiday celebrations and visits are behind us and now 2024 ominously looms ahead.  Do you find yourself wondering; “wow, what now?”  I wonder?, I’d even bet, the shepherds, on the night of Jesus arrival felt something similar.  So, with a road map gleaned from those shepherds of old of how to navigate from here, here is Bob Russell

Joyful Christmas!  Our prayer this Christmas season is that the reminder of the birth of Christ serves to reignite your passion to respond to Christ’s love daily, and that your hope for eternity will be renewed to dominate your heart and mind!   What should be “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year; is for some of us overshadowed by Stress, Anxiety, Isolation or loneliness, Depression.  Sometimes, making our way through the Holidays we just need to be reminded what this celebration is all about.  So let’s pause, take a deep breath and listen to some Good News!    Our speaker, this month is Ben Cachiaras, lead minister with Mountain Christian Church, Joppa, Maryland.    It has been said; Happiness comes from what happens to you from without, Joy comes from what is within.  Real Joy comes from a relationship with the God who designed you to walk in His Joy.  So, it should be no surprise that the coming of Jesus continues to be news of Great Joy, here’s Ben to explain…

Here it is, the Holiday Season!  Thanksgiving in the rear-view mirror, and the Christmas Season is underway.  What should be “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year; is for some of us overshadowed by Stress, Anxiety, Isolation or loneliness, Depression.  Sometimes, going into the Holidays we just need to be reminded what this celebration is all about.  So let’s pause, take a breath and listen to some Good News!    Today, our speaker, Ben Cachiaras, lead minister with Mountain Christian Church, Joppa, Maryland is sharing how we can find nearness to God, and through Him; Hope.    I guess you could say that Hope is belief in something, someone bigger than the situation we are in or the obstacles we face.  Hope must be founded in something bigger.  So, here’s Ben with someone “Bigger”!

Welcome to the Christian’s Hour broadcast, I’m program host Stan Smelser and from all of us at The Christians Hour, we pray you have had a Happy Thanksgiving!   Few other two-word combinations can change your life like “Thank you”.  They change your perspective, they fuel compassion, they fuel generosity, they sweep away entitlement, they connect us to our good, good, father.  They can steer our course, if we let them.   This week, Pastor Mike Breaux peals back the layers of what incredible power is wielded by a thankful heart, and how, according to the Bible’s book of Philippians, we can “grow” that power inside of us.   So… with the answer to the age-old question; what is God’s will for my life, here’s Mike Breaux…
