“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20
When we ask Christ to come into our lives, does he change us immediately? Do we become immediately all that we were meant to be? Does he make us act perfect right away?
Yes, and no. He does make an immediate change, for he makes us his own and he sees us as righteous. However, it will take some time for us to see changes in our lives. After all, if we make a deposit in an interest-bearing account, we won’t see the growth of our money right away. It takes time. But the more time passes, the more we see the value of our investment.
We can trust God’s Word. He has promised to keep us to the end— and beyond. He has changed us forever, and he will continue to change us day by day. He will guide us now, and he will one day present us before his Father and his angels with exceeding joy. He will introduce us to God in the courts of heaven as those who have trusted him to save us.
After accepting Christ, we need to tell others what we have done. Sharing with others is not only good for our souls, it is good for other souls, too! They may hear and believe as we have.
We also need to join a church that teaches the Bible as the inspired Word of God. As we serve Jesus day by day, he will make us more like himself—then we will really feel at home when we get to heaven!
