When we hear the word Christmas, many of us think of all the time spent finding the perfect gifts for the ones we love. God’s perfect Christmas gift for us was His Son. Jesus did not say, “Come to me and I'll fill your life full of stuff.” He said, “I’ll fill it full of Me. I’ll fill it full of God, and then you will have life to the full." And that’s what Christmas is all about. We often forget that as we get busy shopping, baking, decorating, wrapping, and attending parties. In this message, Jill challenges us to keep the focus on Christ and the significance of His birth this Christmas.

Splinters, thorns, prickers. It doesn’t matter what they are called, they hurt and get under your skin! Life in our world is filled with thorns: difficult relationships, illness, loss of loved ones, broken promises. The Bible tells us that even the Apostle Paul and God Himself in Jesus struggled under the bite of thorns. But God does not allow thorns in our lives without providing sufficient grace to live in the prickly mess. What Satan intends to push us down often results in pushing us to our knees in front of God’s throne instead.

Why is a walk in a garden so relaxing? Because we were created to live in God’s garden of perfection, forever. Unfortunately, as the story goes, Adam and Eve made a fatal error and were forced to make their home in the garden of sin instead, where nothing is perfect or peaceful.
But remember, this is God’s story! God came looking for Adam and Eve after they disobeyed. And in His grace, He still comes looking for us today. Jill Briscoe takes us through biblical examples of God’s saving grace and how He offers us a way to His riches through Christ.

Being in a valley isn't proof that God has left us or that He doesn't care. God is our shepherd. He is leading us, protecting and correcting us. This is how we know God's love for us, through his action in our lives.
In this message, we learn that God's rod corrects us, like He corrected David after his sin with Bathsheba, but His staff comforts us through these corrections. Loving discipline shows God's love for us.

At times, we may feel useless, uncreative, ungifted, and unfit to do God's work. But simply by the fact that God has brought us into a redemptive relationship with Him, we can be encouraged that He has gifted us! The Holy Spirit is our gift; He is our anointing to do the good works that God has prepared in advance for us to do.
This message assures us that God has gifted us and God will see us through the tasks He set before us. We can say, as David says, "He has exalted me by helping me to know Him."

No sin is bigger than God's forgiveness and mercy. There will be consequences for sin, but the love of God is the kind of unconditional love that shows mercy when the object of its love lies prostrate and repentant. David learned this when he sinned against God with Bathsheba, he learned the weight of guilt. He also learned that God's mercy is an attribute of His unfailing love.
In this message, Jill Briscoe teaches us the importance of letting God love us by letting Him forgive us.
