Many times Christians say to God, “Show me and then I’ll believe.” God says in response to the Christian, “Believe, and then you’ll see.” When the Holy Spirit came upon the early church, His sound was heard first and then He was seen and experienced. Pastor Jeff says that is the familiar pattern God works in all believer’s lives as we walk with Him. And he continues to gives examples of that very principle in trusting first and then watching God move, rarely the other way around. Join us as we look into Acts 2 for our study titled, “Receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit,” for our time in Sound Doctrine.

What is good for the first church in the book of Acts, is good for the church today. And when God wanted to work in the early church, He is the One who initiated the work by His Spirit and not the church. Pastor Jeff Johnson goes into detail to help us to see the difference between being those who wait for God to initiate instead of those who take things into their own hands. With more on this topic of “Receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit,” let’s join Pastor Jeff Johnson in Acts 2 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

When it comes to the activities of our lives and how we are led out, we discover that we are either led out by the Lord, or we are led by ourselves apart from the Lord. As we look at the activity of the early church, Pastor Jeff Johnson shows that all the activity that the early church was involved in was led by the Holy Spirit. He goes on to show what amazing things God can do in our lives as we surrender to His leading and not our own shortsighted plans. He showed how the Lord led the church where He wanted them. With this and much more let’s turn to Acts 1 for our final installment of the study, “This is His Church” with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

Mankind has yet to see the limitation of problems man can create with a partial understanding of God’s Word, and a un unlimited desire to take matters into his own hands. As we look at the disciples in the upper room waiting for the promise of the Father, they begin to organize and implement a plan of action that may have sounded spiritual and Biblical outwardly, but Pastor Jeff Johnson shows was of course. He shows us several mistakes that were made in the upper room until the Holy Spirit came upon the believers, and how we can avoid the same pitfalls. We invite you to join us for the second installment of our study titled, “This is His Church” in Acts 1 for our time in Sound Doctrine with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

It’s been said that Man plans but God laughs. When the early church was formed, they were told to simply wait for the promise of God’s Spirit. And yet like many today, to simply wait upon the Lord is a challenge. Pastor Jeff Johson shows us the difference between doing things God’s way and doing God’s thing our own way. When we begin to take the work of God’s Spirit and apply our methods independent of God’s prescription, we forfeit the leading of God’s Spirit. With this and much more, join us as we open up Acts 1 in our message titled, “This is His Church” for our time in Sound Doctrine.

Pastor Jeff Johnson shows how unity and humility were present during the time the disciples were waiting for the Holy Spirit. And while there are many churches that seek to have unity, they do so while sacrificing the truth of Scripture. However, Jesus offers us a better way as we don’t trust in ourselves, but in the simplicity of being led by His Holy Spirit. We are glad to have you along with us as we finish our study titled, “He Shall Return,” in Acts 1 for our time in Sound Doctrine with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

Every blockbuster movie builds anticipation for the premier through a series of trailers, interviews, and social media alerts. The reason? For those loyal followers to get ready for the opening day. The same is true for the followers of Jesus as we get closer to the Lord’s return. Pastor Jeff helps us to see how clearly and consistently the Bible advertises Jesus’ coming for His people and then with His people back to earth. With our study titled, “He Shall Return,” let’s join Pastor Jeff in Acts 1 for an encouraging time in Sound Doctrine.

When it comes to last impressions, important words are chosen carefully. As we look at the last words Jesus shared with His disciples, He instructs His people to make sure they wait for the power that God wanted them to have. And just as the disciples were fully equipped by the baptism of the Holy Spirit so that they lacked nothing, Pastor Jeff reminds us that the exact same power is available through the Person of the Holy Spirit.

Witnessing versus being a witness. While it may sound like a minimal distinction between the two at best. Jesus said that those who receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon them will be witness to Him. And while we place a needed emphasis on evangelism, Pastor Jeff Johnson points out that the need to simply be a witness to Jesus, meaning our entire lives will be revealing the reality Jesus Christ wherever we go. This will have an impact on those closest to us first, and then flow outward from there. With our final message titled, “The Baptism of the Holy Spirit,” let’s join Pastor Jeff in Acts 1 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

Without the power, the Christian life is knowing what we should do and how we should live, but lacking the ability to carry it out. For that reason many professing Christians live a life of defeat and frustration because they don’t live in God’s power. The book of Acts provides us with crucial information into the lives of those who lived by the power of God’s Holy Spirit. Pastor Jeff Johnson continues our series on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit to show us why we need this in our lives, with personal examples as well. If you realize this crucial element in your life is missing, you’ll be encouraged today. Let’s turn to Acts 1 for our time in Sound Doctrine.
