Orders From Headquarters - Episode 1

June 3, 2019

The Bible says that a little leaven can leaven the whole lump. It’s a spiritual principle speaking of the permeating influence of even a little area of compromise or sin can impact great areas. This was true when it came to the church in Thessalonica. Pastor Jeff Johnson shows how the fellowship had a small group of people who were disorderly, bringing disorder into the fellowship because of their unwillingness to work. He shares Paul’s remedy for such groups of people, both in the church then, and now. We invite you to turn to 2 Thessalonians 3 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

There is a false perception among some in the church that labor was a result of the curse, when in truth, labor existed before sin entered into humanity. God has provided work as a fulfillment for man’s own benefit. God always calls those who are already busy to serve Him. As we look at the model that Paul gave the church in Thessalonica, he shows that his work continued on while he ministered to the believers there. Pastor Jeff helps us to see it is this is the way ministry should be because work builds character. So join us as we finish the message titled, “Paul’s Final Warning,” in 2 Thessalonians 3 for our exhortation in Sound Doctrine.

The elephant in the room is not just an issue that exists in interpersonal relationships, it also exists in the church as well. When there are those who are in the church who were misbehaving and acting idle and disorderly, the church wasn’t heeding Paul’s instructions to deal with it. Pastor Jeff Johnson says that the church needs to confront those who give an appearance of being right, but don’t act with the heart of Jesus. When we don’t address these issues, it pollutes the whole church. So with that in mind, let’s join Pastor Jeff in 2 Thessalonians 3 for our study titled, “Paul’s Final Warning” in our time in Sound Doctrine.

Indolent, lackadaisical, apathetic. These are just a few words used to describe those who Paul the apostle was warning the church in Thessalonica about. The fact that Paul actually commanded in the name of Jesus shows that this wasn’t a side issue, but something to be taken seriously. This was an issue that the church was previously warned about, now being reminded again. Pastor Jeff Johnson says that there were people in the fellowship who’s End Times understanding was lacking. As the body of Christ, they were encouraged to confront those people in the fellowship who did those things. With our study titled, “Paul’s Final Warning,” let’s join Pastor Jeff in 2 Thessalonians for our time in Sound Doctrine.

As the church, the Bible gives us many metaphors. We are living stones, we are the household of God, and we are also referred to as good soldiers of Jesus Christ. A soldier’s life depends on how well they receive and obey the commands they are given because life and death is on the line. With eternal stakes on the line, it is even more crucial that the Christian is motivated by obedience. And yet Pastor Jeff Johnson points out that there is so much more that propels us to serve Jesus. Join us to discover what drives us to respond to our Lord. With our study titled, “Pass it on,” let’s join Pastor Jeff in our study in Sound Doctrine.

It’s been said that Satan can’t destroy what God protects. Jesus said that the gates of hell will not prevail against the church. So why do believers go through all kinds of challenges and difficulties when it comes to serving the Lord? As we find ourselves in 2 Thessalonians 3 Pastor Jeff Johnson shows how the spiritual warfare we experience as we serve the Lord allows God to work in our lives in a way that doesn’t happen apart from it. And while we don’t look for trials, we look for God in the midst of them.  With our second study titled, “Pass it On,” let’s open to 2 Thess 3 in our message with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

The Bible says of itself that God’s power is built in to the truth of Scripture. It creates, controls, convicts, and accomplishes heaven’s purposes. The Word that is shared instead of the act of sharing itself is what accomplishes God’s intentions. So when we share, we don’t have to stress about our delivery as we do making sure we deliver the Word of God. With that theme Pastor Jeff Johnson helps us to see the need for prayer and God’s Word going together is what makes the Word spread rapidly. And as we combine those two traits together, we will watch God set people free with the truth. With our study titled, “Pass It On,” let’s join Pastor Jeff in 2 Thessalonians 3 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

The Bible says that our lives are living epistles, or letters, known and read by all people. As we witness and work for the Lord, others will see love and joy coming out of our lives as an advertisement for the grace of God working in us. Pastor Jeff Johnson helps us to see that this life is real and not impossible for those who are obeying and walking with the Lord. But it is actually the overflow of a life that is built upon, and maintained by those who “Hold On To Sound Doctrine”. So let’s listen in to final installment of our study in 2 Thessalonians 2 with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

More than a memorable photo op at Buckingham Palace, the queens guard and their iconic red uniforms and black helmets are recognized for their stoic watch at their post. Their diligence to remain there symbolizes the Apostle Paul’s exhortation to the believer today: Stand fast in what you were taught. As Pastor Jeff Johnson illustrates, it’s not simply a noble standard, but a real life necessity for our spiritual health and maturity. So let’s tune in for the message titled, “Hold On to Sound Doctrine,” in 2 Thessalonians 2, with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

As any farmer will tell you weathervane on the top of barns are perfect for telling us which direction the wind is going. But when it comes to standing against the winds, they’re useless. In a similar way Pastor Jeff Johnson shows how it is important for the Christian to be cautious not to be like a weather vane, being tossed around with every new doctrine, idea, or spiritual fad that pops up in our culture. So it was with the church in Thessalonica. As they embraced the truth of Jesus Christ, Paul promised that God would comfort and establish them in their convictions. We are reminded that God will do the same thing for us today as we stand firm in what we have been taught. With more in our study titled, “Hold On to Sound Doctrine,” let’s turn to 2 Thessalonians 2 for our study with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

Many are called but few are chosen. The call of Jesus Christ has gone out to everyone, but those who receive what His salvation are at times few and far between. Pastor Jeff Johnson is showing how election has two sides. God’s Sovereignty and Man’s responsibility. And as we respond in faith to God’s call, it is revealed to all that we are part of the elect of God. We notice that call that God had place on the believers in Thessalonica was revealed as they went through their fiery trials. With our final study titled, “Strength for Today,” let’s join Pastor Jeff in 2 thess 2 for our time in Sound Doctrine.
