May 22, 2019

More than a memorable photo op at Buckingham Palace, the queens guard and their iconic red uniforms and black helmets are recognized for their stoic watch at their post. Their diligence to remain there symbolizes the Apostle Paul’s exhortation to the believer today: Stand fast in what you were taught. As Pastor Jeff Johnson illustrates, it’s not simply a noble standard, but a real life necessity for our spiritual health and maturity. So let’s tune in for the message titled, “Hold On to Sound Doctrine,” in 2 Thessalonians 2, with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

As any farmer will tell you weathervane on the top of barns are perfect for telling us which direction the wind is going. But when it comes to standing against the winds, they’re useless. In a similar way Pastor Jeff Johnson shows how it is important for the Christian to be cautious not to be like a weather vane, being tossed around with every new doctrine, idea, or spiritual fad that pops up in our culture. So it was with the church in Thessalonica. As they embraced the truth of Jesus Christ, Paul promised that God would comfort and establish them in their convictions. We are reminded that God will do the same thing for us today as we stand firm in what we have been taught. With more in our study titled, “Hold On to Sound Doctrine,” let’s turn to 2 Thessalonians 2 for our study with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

Many are called but few are chosen. The call of Jesus Christ has gone out to everyone, but those who receive what His salvation are at times few and far between. Pastor Jeff Johnson is showing how election has two sides. God’s Sovereignty and Man’s responsibility. And as we respond in faith to God’s call, it is revealed to all that we are part of the elect of God. We notice that call that God had place on the believers in Thessalonica was revealed as they went through their fiery trials. With our final study titled, “Strength for Today,” let’s join Pastor Jeff in 2 thess 2 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

Stability, security, and support. These are not usually words that are associated with our state of mind as we go through trials. But our stability will depend upon where we draw our strength from. Pastor Jeff Johnson helps us to see that dwelling in God’s Word is what will give us the stability just as it did with the church in Thessalonica during their times of persecution and difficulties. We invite you to join us as we look at “Strength for Today” in 2 Thessalonians 2 for our study in Sound Doctrine with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

God is the most patient being in the universe. He gives second chances again and again. So what prevents everyone from knowing Him? The world, the flesh, and the devil. As man progresses in sin, his heart becomes increasingly hardened. And in our portion of Scripture Pastor Jeff is showing us that with the collective hardened hearts of humanity, they will embrace strong delusion so that they will believe the lie instead of the truth. With our final study titled, “What About the Unsaved?” let’s turn to 2 Thessalonians for Sound Doctrine with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

While believers have the hope of the rapture of the church, Pastor Jeff Johnson says that no one the day or hour, but we can know the signs and seasons. And yet with Jesus’ second coming, every eye will see Him as He puts an end to the lawless one with the sword of His mouth. With these two key events in mind, we as believers can know that the time is coming when God will make an end of schemes of satan and we will one day be with Him. Allow this to stir us up as we get into our study titled, “The Rapture of the Church” in 2 Thessalonians 2 with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

There is a popular story about a little dutch boy who saves his country by putting his little finger in a leaking dyke. He stays there all night, braving the cold until the morning comes and the adults find him and fix the leak. In a similar way, our world is facing a future torrent of evil that Pastor Jeff Johnson says is being restrained by the influence of the Holy Spirit through HIs people, the believers.  But one day the dam will break and the Tribulation will take place. And because we delay the judgment on a Christ-rejecting world, God will remove us through rapture or release of our physical bodies. With more in our study titled, “The Rapture of the Church” let’s join Pastor Jeff in 2 Thess 2.

Is the church experiencing the Great Tribulation as some say? Is Satan’s program of destruction and devastation running unhindered, or is it possible that the Lord is still holding him back until a future time? As we continue our studies in 2 Thessalonians Pastor Jeff Johnson says that the Holy Spirit is actually restraining the unbridled work of evil through the church of Jesus. And while the world may not realize how God is using the church now, we are called to continue to be that preserving influence by God’s Holy Spirit today. With more on our study titled, “The Rapture of the Church” let’s join Pastor Jeff in 2 Thessalonians 2 in Sound Doctrine.
