Death: The Final Frontier Part 2a

November 23, 2020

If the rapture doesn’t occur in our lifetime, we all have an appointment with death.  Then comes the judgement and there are two eternal destinations.  What we do now with Christ, determines where we’ll spend eternity!  So it’s important to be prepared, and today’s study in Ecclesiastes chapter nine, will help us make sure we’re on the road that leads to eternal life.

While death is unavoidable, we can be prepared for it.  Maybe right now, you’d say you’re afraid of death?  I think that would describe a great many in our world.  We hope to help calm those fears today on Sound Doctrine as we present what the Bible has to say about death, the final frontier.

Every day people are dying all over the world and one day you and I will have our appointment with death, if the rapture doesn’t occur first.  It’s unavoidable!  And we’ve been reminded this year that life is unpredictable too!  So what is the best way to live, in light of that fact?  How can we be prepared?  Ecclesiastes gives us a good answer to that question, and that’s where we’re headed on Sound Doctrine.

We’re going through Ecclesiastes from start to finish.  2020 has been quite a year…. And if you’re like many you’ve been shaking your head in disgust, as you view what’s been taking place.  But how should the Christian respond to evil, and the inequity we see around us?  That’s the question of the day, as we turn in our Bibles to Ecclesiastes chapter eight.

As evil is on the rise and even being celebrated and encouraged, it can be really frustrating to the Christian living in the midst of it all.  So much so, you might feel like giving up or giving in!  But there’s wisdom to be found in God’s Word to help us deal with this very real issue.  We’ll bring it to you today on Sound Doctrine, as Pastor Jeff Johnson revisits Ecclesiastes chapter eight.

Jesus told us that in the last days there would be an increase in wickedness and evil in the world.  It’s probably safe to conclude we’re seeing that right before our very eyes.  So what are we to do, where do you go, and what do you say?  Pastor Jeff will thoughtfully consider that on today’s Sound Doctrine through a study in Ecclesiastes chapter eight.   We’ll learn how to be a light in a very dark world.

Pastor Jeff is in the middle of a study in Ecclesiastes.  From rioting in the streets, to the burning down of businesses, abortion, murder, rape… there’s a lot of bad in this world.  And maybe in light of it all, you’ve been wondering, why does evil and wickedness like this exist?  Why doesn’t God put a stop to it?  For some answers we’ll turn to Ecclesiastes chapter eight, where Solomon was trying to figure out the insanity all around him!

We live in a world where evil exists, and we’re no stranger to suffering.  But have you been wondering lately, why does God allow evil and suffering?  We’re about to look into that very difficult question on today’s Sound Doctrine.  We’ll learn that the Lord has a purpose behind all that we experience in life.  That doesn’t mean He caused it, but He can bring good from it.  And comfort us in the midst of it too.

When things don’t go as planned, or you experience an unexpected left turn in life… will you turn bitter or become better as a result?  God’s wisdom contained in Ecclesiastes will help you choose the right path.
November 10, 2020
We're currently enjoying a series of messages in Ecclesiastes. It’s helpful to understand where the writer of this book was coming from. Solomon was a rich and important man, yet he wondered out loud what the point of life really was. He was confused, lonely, empty... much like many people today wouldn’t you say? We’re going to look at Ecclesiastes chapter seven where we gain wisdom on how to make life better instead of turning bitter.
