Whether it’s a marriage or a friendship… over time that relationship that was once strong can deteriorate.  The same can happen in our relationship with God.  How can we stay close to the Lord, or get back to where we should be?  That’s what we’re about to uncover in part 2 of pastor Jeff’s message, “First Love Relationship!”

As we’re approaching a new year, it’s not a bad idea to take inventory of our lives, and see where we’re at spiritually!  Maybe some adjustments need to be made.  Much like taking your car to a mechanic for a tune up!  Today on Sound Doctrine we’ll have that opportunity as we dig deeper into the Song of Solomon.

Those of you who have swam in the ocean, know how easy it is to drift, and not even realize it’s happening. You look back to the shore and your beach towel and belongings are out of sight!   The same thing can happen to us spiritually!  If that’s you, we’ll show you how to get back to your first love relationship with Jesus today on Sound Doctrine.  Pastor Jeff is in the Song of Solomon chapter two describing the sort of relationship God desires to have with us.

Christmas is just a week away!  And it’s a good time to reflect on why Jesus came!  Today on Sound Doctrine we find the answer to that question is that we would have a love relationship with Him!  We’ll be in the Song of Solomon chapter two which encourages us to have a strong relationship with Christ.  And if we’ve drifted a bit, to get back to our first love.

Turn on the radio to a music station today, and it’s likely you’ll hear quite a few songs with the theme of love.  Song writers often focus on love!  You might say the Song of Solomon is a fantastic love song… a number one hit!   And it’s receiving our time and attention on Sound Doctrine.  Pastor Jeff Johnson will be covering the latter portion of chapter one, which is all about our love relationship with God.

Pastor Jeff Johnson is in the early stages of a new series in the Song of Solomon.  In the first few verses of chapter one the Shulamite woman is confessing her love to Solomon.  She’s basically saying there’s nothing like it, and it goes way beyond physical attraction to the inner character.  Pastor Jeff will relate this to God’s love for us!  Nothing can compare to the Lord’s love for each of us and what a timely reminder with Christmas on the horizon.

Do you enjoy a good love story or love song?  Most Americans do.   But much of the time the picture that we’re given of love and romance in the world is diametrically opposed to what we find in Scripture.  Today on Sound Doctrine we begin a series of studies based on the Song of Solomon.  Now if you want an accurate picture of love and romance, that’s the book to turn to!  It emphasizes how much God really loves us.

We’ll meet you in Ecclesiastes chapter twelve in just a moment, as we wrap up our series in this marvelous Old Testament book.  We can learn a great deal by sitting down with an older person in the faith, and hear their reflections on life!  You might say, we’re doing that today with Solomon. He’s about to share the reason for living, and what we’re to be doing in this life.

We’re nearing the conclusion of our series in Ecclesiastes here on Sound Doctrine.  Pastor Jeff Johnson will be looking at the final few verses of the book, in what we might title Solomon’s final conclusion.  Many of us have gone to school for 12, 16 or more years.  But have you ever thought of life as a school?  Today pastor Jeff points this out, and the need to learn our lessons well.
