Where Is Your Faith? 3A

Since the Bible makes claims that are absolutes, then we can claim with assurance that our faith is grounded in truth. It’s not rooted in a person, and isn’t found in any system. Church membership can’t even get us into Heaven. Only faith in Jesus Christ, and believing that God raised Him from the dead can we be saved.

These days, we waste a lot of time on things that are not important. But, combat faith is about redeeming the time by making it count. Peter reminds us that it’s critical our earthly lives have focus and perspective on what the Lord wants us to do with our time.

Just like in Peter’s day, combat faith is what we’re going to need to overcome a lost worldview system. It’s a battle that every Christian needs to be involved in. Our time here on earth is short, so we need to make the best of it when it comes to sharing our faith with passion and purpose.

For the Christ follower, it’s our faith that drives the experience, and not the other way around. During the time of Jesus’ ministry on earth, and on up towards Peter’s day, people flocked towards the miracles. Even today, there are certain ministers who turn the grace of God into self-satisfying opportunities of a different gospel.

Peter had become the pastor and teacher that Jesus called him to be. But, now that Peter is up in years, he wants to make sure the church is strengthened in their times of difficulty, and that they are properly taught in the things of the Lord.

Combat faith means to fight for the truth. There will be many false prophets, and teachers in these last days, and we need to guard ourselves against deception. The truth never changes. From Biblical days to now, the truth has remained the same. The Bible can defend itself. We just need its truths out there in a more radical way.

There’s a real fear of the unknown. But, for the Christ follower, Home is our heart's desire. There’s no peace for those who are about to die, and yet still refuse Christ’s offer of eternal life in Heaven. Where is their home? Where will they go?

God knows those who are His, and those who are not His. It’s not that He picks and chooses. It’s based on His foreknowledge. He knows in advance who will accept Him, and those who will reject His Gospel of salvation.

When we work hard at proving we are truly among those God has called to be His family, then we will be more insulated from falling away. Romans 8, verse 28, tells us that all things work together for good to those who are the called according to His purpose.

When we are right with God, we’ll have an attitude of gratitude, and thankfulness. Our actions and decisions will show insight and wisdom, and we’ll see people as God sees them. In other words, we’ll have the desire to be the person that God has created us to be.

When we are right with God, we’re not clouded by past sins, or remain the person we once were. Instead, we’ll have vision and clarity. We’re not worried about physical things, but have an eternal and heavenly perspective.
