A Covenant Relationship

February 2, 2018

As the son of a defeated royal family, Mephibosheth had everything to fear when David ascended the throne. But instead of execution, he received an invitation—to dine with the king for the rest of his life.

In this message, Dr. Stanley teaches us that God has extended the same kindness and covenant love toward us through His Son Jesus. There’s no need to fear when the King beckons you to feast at His table.

“Friendship’s not cheap. Friendship is expensive.” —Charles F. Stanley In the Bible, Jonathan paid a high price to be a loyal friend to David, forfeiting his father’s favor and risking death. Do you want a friend like that? In this message, Dr. Stanley details the three characteristics of true, intimate friendship and how to cultivate them in your own life—because to have a friend, you must first be a friend.

A colleague gets the promotion you deserved. A friend’s talents garner more praise than yours. How do you respond when you’re in the shadow of someone else’s limelight?  In this message, Dr. Stanley uses the story of Saul and David to illuminate both the right and the wrong reactions to popularity. Don’t allow renown—either your own or another’s—lure you into jealousy, suspicion, or vengeance. Learn to keep your wits about you and continue to depend on the Lord, no matter your position.

In one corner, Goliath. His advantages? Height, strength, experience, armor, and weaponry. In the other, David. His advantage? God. By all external factors, it didn’t look like the odds were in David’s favor—but God was. In this message, Dr. Stanley explores the most famous underdog story and outlines what we can learn when we come face to face with the giants in our own lives. Don’t let the enemy of your soul intimidate you—learn to fight in God’s strength and not your own.

“God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart” (1 Sam. 16:7). It wasn’t David’s looks that drew God’s attention. It was his character. In this message, Dr. Stanley uncovers the qualities— willingness, preparation, potential—that made David the best choice for king. Learn how to pursue a godly character so that when God calls on you, you'll be ready.

Life is continually changing. Every day is different. Unrest around the world threatens people's security and safety. With so much happening in our world, it may seem impossible to have peace of mind. In "Confidence in Troublesome Times," we learn otherwise. God, through His word, has provided believers all the assurance and confidence we need.   Remember that God is still in control—no matter how overwhelming or impossible the challenges may seem. Place your trust fully in Him and you will have confidence and peace during every storm you face.

In this encouraging sermon, "In His Presence," Dr. Charles Stanley discusses why we inherently go to God when we don't know where to turn, and how God's love and comfort are always available to us if we'll believe in Him.

We all know Jesus wept. But did you know He whipped? Even the Son of God got angry, brandishing a whip and driving out the vendors from His Father’s house (John 2:15). It’s comforting to know that as children of God we’re allowed to feel anger, but how do we deal with it in a healthy way? In this message, Dr. Stanley explains how to be angry and not sin (Eph. 4:26). Don’t let anger eat through your life—find freedom in confession and expression.

But. Such a small, simple word. Yet those three letters constitute rebellion when we say them in response to God’s direct commands.  In this message, Dr. Stanley explains that partial obedience to God isn’t obedience at all, but rebellion. If we want God to use our lives for His mighty purposes, we must listen and obey His voice. Learn how to surrender your will to the Lord and walk according to His.
