This week’s guest, Dave Lemaire, shares with Gerry about the men’s river rafting adventures he leads every summer down one of the king salmon rivers in Alaska. Dave looks back on how he got started working with men’s ministry, and the impact he saw it have in those who attended the very first outing he did for a church in Alaska. The men who joined together on that trip 6 months after the adventure could still remember everything that the speaker had said, and it was obvious to Dave that men in a men’s environment can be deeply ingrained with God’s Word.

Gerry hooks up with Jim Lombardi, the owner of Buckfever in Michigan.  Jim reflects on how he became involved with the outdoors through his grandfather’s influence, and the impact that had on him. Jim reminisces about some of the most special memories he has during these early years of life, and then shares how that experience has moved him to begin making a living in the outdoors. It becomes obvious that these early years of life, and those that we spend them with, can put us on a path to who we are in our adult years.

The pastor of a Virginia church shares about their church and how it has developed an outdoor ministry outreach. One of the things that Pastor Rick Magee shared with Gerry is the fact that their ministry team is leasing 500 acres and using it to reach out to both young people and men who do not attend any church at all. This ministry is having an incredible impact and is providing numerous opportunities to share Christ.

This weekend being the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, Gerry pulled this interview with Chuck Buck that aired in 2002.  Chuck missed being on one of the planes that left out of Boston by one day as he flew home to California from that airport on September 10th.  Chuck also shares the incredible story of how his dad’s hand was crushed in an industrial meat grinder.  God miraculously healed his hand, otherwise the Buck Knife business would not be where it is today.
