Free Resource | Does the Bible Promote Tolerance or Intolerance?
One group says the Bible is a book about love, mercy, and kindness. They think of the story of the Good Samaritan and of Jesus telling us to turn the other cheek. So how could anyone think the Bible prevents a tolerant society? But for another group, the Bible is far from tolerant. There’s the conquest of Canaan. There’s Elijah killing Baal’s prophets by his own hand. And in the New Testament, Jesus talks often about hell. That’s not tolerant. What then can we say in answer to this question? So many people today wonder why God would judge us and why He can't just forgive us. It all seems so unfair to them. Pastor Josh discusses the need to focus on the cross in order to find where love and mercy meet, and where justice and truth triumph.

Paul lays out characteristics of proper pastoring because the Galatians were facing false teachers. How do we spot true gospel pastors?

These verses help us to discern good pastoral leadership, appropriate discipleship, and the right way to accept shepherding. We want you to have the tools of discernment so that you can receive true biblical teaching.

We don't want to get wrapped up in forms and structure without the power of God at work in them. It is the power of Christ that we want you to experience today.

Every time the gospel is written or preached, there is a division between those who receive it and those who do not. God's kindness is constantly on display so that we might be lead to repentance.
September 22, 2019
Here Paul describes a form of godliness without the power of Christ. We need structure, but if that's all there is, we're missing the main point, which is Christ and his power. We want you to have him and that power at work in your life.

In the true teaching of holiness, when we become more holy, we do not become less human or less who we were meant to be, we become more who God designed us to be. There's a beauty and a wholeness to true holiness.
