In the true teaching of holiness, when we become more holy, we do not become less human or less who we were meant to be, we become more who God designed us to be. There's a beauty and a wholeness to true holiness.

Paul says this form of religion is like being a slave–like being held back in immaturity and not going on to mature spirituality. In the gospel we move from this slavery relationship to one of adoption with full rights as sons and daughters in Christ.

Living in the AD reality of Christ's death and resurrection means to live as sons of the heavenly Father with the desire to please him in every way and to have fellowship that is unbroken by the barriers that we construct between each other in our fallen state.

Living BC is living under the law which is like being prisoners with the guardian of the law put in charge of us. Maybe you feel you are in prison with the law around you, but there is release that comes from the gospel.

The law and the promise play different roles. The law is to convict us of our sins, while the promise of God's grace through faith in Christ is to save us. It is that distinction that must be clear in our minds in order for us to live freely for Christ and His glory.

So many Christians spend their lives living as if it is works and a good moral effort that will get them to heaven.That is not how God has designed His salvation plan. We need to defeat the legalism that kills our faith.

It's a frequent temptation for all of us to look at our faith as something that we need to make happen. In many ways, that attitude toward self-generated faith is what the world thinks we mean by faith. Actually, God is behind it all.
