Questioning the Historical Adam - Exit Ramps from the Faith

The cover of Christianity Today sports an apeman purported to be a sort of Adam. But what they are really asking is, "Was Adam a real person?" Since a few scientists are "absolutely, definitely clear" on the rate of mutation over 100,000 years, and the time of divergence of chimps and humans on the "Tree of Life," theologians must make their proper prostrations. In the great apostasy of the 21st century, there must exit ramps from the faith. Is this one of them? Do the compromises of Neo-orthodoxy or theistic evolution really salvage any part of the faith, or do they just grease the skids of apostasy in the west?
