Some of the greatest lessons of life come through parenting. Michael and Sharon Dennehy, the parents of 12 children, nine of whom are adopted, have spent much time in life’s classroom and reflect on what adoption has taught them. The Dennehys remind listeners that as believers, we’ve all been adopted by God, and that expanding their family through adoption hasn’t depleted the love they have to give, but has enlarged it.

Adoption has its challenges. Michael and Sharon Dennehy, known as the “United Nations couple” due to the number of international adoptions they’ve pursued, talk about the challenges and realities of adopting children with special needs. Sharon admits there are days when parenting seems overwhelming, and she just wants to take a long nap. Then she remembers God’s calling, and she realizes afresh the amazing blessing she has in these children.

Gary Thomas, author of "Cherish," encourages husbands and wives to cherish their spouses by celebrating who they uniquely are. A person needs to see their spouse as their one and only, and must be careful not to compare. Cherishing means affirming and loving our spouse, and being eternally grateful for them.

Best-selling author Gary Thomas explains that when you show off the beauty of your spouse and showcase them instead of yourself, you are cherishing them. Conversely, demoralizing or discouraging your spouse is a characteristic of contempt, and the opposite of this high value.
