The Key to a Great Relationship

April 3, 2018

Siblings don’t always get along. But the sibling relationship can improve as brothers and sisters mature and grow in faith. Brothers Alex and Stephen Kendrick reminisce about their childhood and the often comical spats they had growing up, and still sometimes have today. They point to their faith in Christ as the glue that bonds them together, and they challenge parents to seek the Lord daily and to teach their children to do the same.

Some days it’s easy to love your kids. Other days prove more challenging. That’s why parents need to intentionally seek out ways to encourage, teach, and bless their children daily. To help with this, brothers Stephen and Alex Kendrick, best known for their films, “Courageous” and “Fireproof,” talk to parents about their book, “The Love Dare for Parents,” a 40-day dare to parents to love their kids.

There are times in life when all we have is our faith. And that’s enough. Carolyn Weber tells how a difficult labor and delivery with her twins lead her to death’s door and how God sustained her through the trauma she calls the crucible moment in her marriage.

Your children are asking "Who am I?" Andrew Walker, author of "God and the Transgender Debate," helps parents explain what it means to be made in the image of God. Walker shares how he's talked to his own children about gender by affirming their masculinity or femininity, which is a gift from God. Walker encourages parents to live out a biblical worldview in their homes and teach their children about the doctrine of sin.

Author Andrew Walker talks with Dennis Rainey about our dignity as individuals. Walker reminds listeners they are more than their moral choices and personal identity because they are made in the image of God. Is a person sinning if they're confused about their gender? Walker doesn't believe that being tempted is sin, only acting on the temptation. Fortunately, we have a Savior who is strong when we are weak.

Author Andrew Walker recalls the sexual revolution of the '50s and '60s and the "If it feels good, do it," message the era promoted. Walker explains the confusing issue of gender fluidity and how the message promoted by the sexual revolution has contributed to its prominence in today's society.

Author Todd Friel, a professed chief sinner in his household, reveals that the most courageous thing he ever does is apologize to his wife and children for sinning against them. If we want our kids to obey, parents need to talk about God and use the Bible as the authority. Friel coaches parents on how to teach kids to respond to the authority of God.

Todd Friel, a father of three, encourages parents to look beyond behavior modification when disciplining our kids. Friel reminds us that we're all sinners, even parents, so we shouldn't be shocked when kids don't behave. Parents must humbly engage with our kids in a way that draws them even closer to Jesus, rather than pushing them away. We don't need to punish our kids for their sins, but disciple them for the greater good.

Author Todd Friel, host of the syndicated program "Wretched TV," talks to parents of prodigals who feel they are to blame for their child's waywardness. Friel reminds parents that it's their job to be faithful parents and live the gospel in their child's presence. It's God's job to bring their children to repentance and faith.
