Mighty Christmas

December 13, 2013
Who made Christmas famous? All the tinsel and glitter of the season might cause you to think Santa Claus. But as Christians, we know it's Jesus Christ whom we honor and celebrate on December 25. But why don't more of our decorations reflect that? Barbara Rainey talks more about her new resource, Adorenaments, which feature seven of Jesus' royal names designed into a shimmering crown. Barbara tells how these ornaments not only make beautiful decorations, but provide a way for parents to teach their children about Christ's majesty too. Ace Collins joins Barbara to explain more about the beautiful hymn Angels We Have Heard on High.

Is decorating your tree with Santas, snowmen and elves getting a little humdrum? While cute, none of those reflect what the Christmas season truly is all about. For over 20 years Barbara Rainey wanted to adorn her home at Christmas in a way that focused on Christ, but couldn't find much in the stores to help her. So she got busy and created her own decorations that would reflect her faith. Barbara talks about her new resources, Adore Hymns and Adorenaments, while Ace Collins reveals the meaning behind God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.

Do you prefer the ease of a artificial tree? Or the aroma of a real one? No matter your preference, both are beautiful once they're decorated. The Christmas holidays don't always go smoothly. But no matter. Christ is still present, bearing our burdens and drawing us back to the real reason for our celebration. Barbara, along with Tracey Eyster, Creator and Editor of MomLifeToday.com, share some creative ways for families to keep the focus on Christ during the holidays.
