Let's Go on a Date!

June 13, 2012
What is your assignment as a husband? To provide? To protect? To pursue? Justin Buzzard, author of Date Your Wife, talks honestly about a man's mission to love his wife like Christ loved the church, which includes continuing to love and pursue her long after the ink on the marriage license is dry. Justin encourages husbands to come up with a plan, as he did, for continuing to date their wives throughout the year.

As a young man raised by a single mother, Voddie knew what it was like to push the boundaries. That's why his mother sent him to live with an uncle that would provide clear boundaries and firm discipline. Pastor Voddie Baucham talks about a man's shepherding role as it relates to discipline. Discipline, he notes, is what we do to instruct our children and teach them, rather than just punishing them for wrongdoing.Download Transcript

Author and pastor Voddie Baucham challenges men to be the prophet and priests of their home, all the while depending on God for His wisdom and direction for his family. A priest, Baucham explains, is the one who goes to God on behalf of his people — his family, and a prophet proclaims the good news and represents God before the people.Download Transcript

Can sports be a healthy part of a young man's development? Sure! But only to an extent. Randy Stinson, a father of seven and a VP at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, tells how his sports-loving family opted out of baseball for 18 months in order to stretch themselves in other ways: through mission trips and other gospel outreaches.
