Indivisible

October 25, 2018

Army Chaplain Darren Turner and his wife, Heather, join producer David Evans and his wife, Esther, to talk about the release of the new feature film about the Turner's life, "Indivisible." The Turners remember how they met and what it was that first drew them into the military. Darren's deployment challenged him in multiple ways, and raising the children alone came with its own set of problems for Heather. In the blur of service, Darren's faith grew stagnant and his heart grew numb as he watched more and more men die in battle.

Who are you listening to? Dennis Rainey explains that all of life is one long process of asking and answering the question, "Who am I going to believe?" In Genesis, we see Satan, the big deceiver, questioning Eve about what God had told her. Eve began to doubt God, and mankind has been struggling ever since. Rainey cautions listeners not to follow Eve's footsteps, but to believe what God has promised in His Word and to hold onto that truth for life.

"Boys play house. Men build them." Pastor and entrepreneur Joe Pellegrino tells how his life and legacy changed for the better after giving his heart to the Lord. Pellegrino agrees that sexual purity for young men is important, but a man also needs to be pure in character. It's only then that a man can find and pursue his purpose in life.

May 26, 1995 is a reset date for Joe Pellegrino, a men's pastor and founder of Legacy Minded Men. On that day at a Promise Keepers conference he committed himself to the Lord. Before he knew Christ, he was a man who built his house on the sand. He was cutting corners in order to build himself up. Now he shares what he's learned about following God's better blueprint.

Dr. Juli Slattery and Michelle Hill, "FamilyLife This Week" host, join Dennis Rainey in a lively discussion about sexuality. Slattery gives insight on how mothers should talk to their daughters about sex. Instead of just saying "don't go there," mothers can talk about a daughter's longings and help dispel fear while explaining God's good design for sexuality. Hill, who is single, explains how she is expressing her sexuality while still honoring God.

Christian counselor Juli Slattery teams up with "FamilyLife This Week" host Michelle Hill to talk about sexuality as it relates to singleness. Slattery explains there are many things that impact how a woman sees her sexuality, but one of the biggest factors is her family of origin. Slattery and Hill both share how the topic of sex was handled in their homes. While most Christian homes, and churches, endorse purity, pushing that message alone leads to problems. Hill, who is single, talks honestly about being single in a sex-crazed culture.

Jaquelle Crowe joins her father, Sean Crowe, to talk about connecting as a family. Sean shares what he and his wife did to help Jacquelle grow into a woman of character. They focused on the law when Jacquelle was younger, but also made sure she understood grace and saw it lived out. Jaquelle Crow, a contributor on DesiringGod.org as well as the Gospel Coalition, talks about the relationship teens need to have with their parents, friends, and the opposite gender. Each person's first relationship is with their parents, and she learned to honor her mom and dad at an early age. Crow reminds teens that their parents are doing the best they can, and that they are only human--with insecurities, fears, and doubts, just like them.

Jaquelle Crowe, editor-in-chief of TheRebelution.com, explains how her parents modeled the gospel as she grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Attracted by the infectious joy her parents possessed and their hope in their Savior, Crowe tells how she prayed to receive Christ at age 4. While she had her doubts and rebelled a bit in her early teen years, she never walked away from her faith. Crowe coaches parents on how to make the Christian life attractive to their kids.

Lee Wolfe Blum exhorts women everywhere to define themselves as radically loved by God and full of worth, not because of what we do but because of what He's done. Instead of judging one another, we need to encourage each other. Many of us are in hard situations and are being so brave. Blum shares the stories of several women who rose above their circumstances and relied on the Lord for His courage to live bravely.

Mental health practitioner Lee Wolfe Blum remembers her youth and the powerful, damaging message, "you don't matter." Overhearing her mother tell someone she was an accident compounded that negative thinking.
