Ron and Nan Deal lost their 12-year-old son Connor in 2009. The Deals discuss how they regained their footing, especially in their marriage, after experiencing such a tragic loss. Through a series of God connections, the Deals met grieving parents Randy and Pam Cope, who led them to the nonprofit Touch a Life Foundation in Ghana, West Africa. This fueled a dream to serve the children there and the Connor Creative Art Center was born.

Ron and Nan Deal share how losing their middle son, Connor, in 2009 at the age of 12 still has them reeling daily as they wake up and think about what they won't experience with him. It's not a time loss, they say, but everything that loss brings with it--remembrances of life before the loss and everything you did together. Everything changes when you lose a child. The Deals share what has helped them, and hurt them, as they've grieved the loss of their son.

Ron and Nan Deal walk us through the events in 2009 that took the life of their 12-year old son, Connor. He complained of a headache; then it went to a cough, and then a fever. Doctors in urgent care assured them he would be better soon. Instead he got worse. Later Connor was rushed to the hospital, then med-flighted to the Dallas' Children's Hospital for pneumonia caused by MRSA, which caused organ failure and tragically, death. The Deals tells how their family got through this tremendous loss.

Josh Mulvihill, the executive director of Renewanation, reminds parents that children learn what marriage is by watching them. Mulvihill shares how his own parents, who served as CRU staff for 37 years, modeled what a life and marriage following Jesus looked like. By doing so, they trained the next generation, just like he's doing with his own kids. Parents must start early teaching and modeling a biblical view of marriage for their children.

The Bible has plenty to say to your kids about sex and marriage, says author Josh Mulvihill. In Genesis 2:24, God defines marriage and gives the purpose and meaning of sex and gender; Ephesians 5:22 is a great launching point to talk about servant leadership and roles; and Proverbs 5 captures a father having "the talk" with his son. Mulvihill also shares preventative measures parents need to consider in order to protect their children from early exposure to porn.

Dr. Winfred Neely, senior pastor of Judson Baptist Church in Oak Park, Illinois, recounts how anxious and afraid he and his wife were when their son, Sterling, came down with malaria while they served as missionaries in Africa. They prayed and released their son to the Lord, and soon the Lord restored their son's health. Neely explains how fervent prayer works to bring us peace.

Dr. Winfred Neely, a professor at Moody Bible Institute, shares biblical wisdom for dealing with stress and worry. Neely recalls how his mother found strength to navigate through her worries by leaning into the Scriptures. Neely, an admitted boundary pusher as a kid, remembers the day when a fellow soldier in the Army shared the gospel, and how that moment eventually led him to attend Bible college, and later accept the call to do God's work in Africa.

Who are you pouring into? Authors and professors Barbara Neumann and Dr. Sue Edwards describe what organic mentoring is: a natural, less contrived relationship where one woman listens, encourages, and builds up the other. Neumann and Edwards remind mentors that young women don't really want "the Bible answer woman," but rather a trusted friend who will share her own life stories.

Think you'd like to be a mentor? Then why don't you start with coffee. Seminary professors Barbara Neumann and Dr. Sue Edwards encourage women to be attentive to the mentoring opportunities around them, and to forget the idea that mentoring has to be structured. They remind women that reaching a younger generation means they'll need to enter the world of millennials.

Wanted: Women who are willing to listen, love, and mentor younger women. No experience required. Barbara Neumann and Dr. Sue Edwards, professors at Dallas Theological Seminary, tell how they came to faith through the friendship and influence of older women. Barbara and Sue encourage women to forget everything they thought they knew about mentoring in order to minister to a younger generation.
