Dear Friends,Many of you are familiar with the work of my colleague, Dr. Tim Clinton, who is co-host with me on the Family Talk radio broadcast. He and I share a deep commitment to the preservation of the institution of the family. Dr. Clinton is a licensed marriage and family therapist and is a recognized authority on mental health and relationship issues. He recently published a book entitled Focus on the Future. It addresses many important family-related topics, including a discussion of “the family table.”On January 9th, just in time for New Year’s resolutions, foxnews.com published an excerpt from Dr. Clinton’s book and titled it, “Resolve to spend more time around the family dinner table in 2022.”This article, and the book, are thought-provoking. The remainder of my letter this month discusses these ideas. There are circumstances that are specific to the courtship period. Let me cite 17 suggestions that will help you avoid the common pitfalls among those who are trying to win the heart of another.
What if it could be demonstrated beyond a shadow of a doubt that homosexuality is, as activists claim, genetic, biochemical, and neurological in origin? We would still want to know, so what?
Millions of young women struggle today with three competing choices lie before them--whether to have a career, be a wife and mother, or attempt to do both. It is a decision that will have implications for everything that is to follow.
A mistake commonly committed by the parents of older adopted children is that they pity their youngsters too much to confront them. They feel that life has already been too hard on the little ones and believe they must not make things worse by disciplining them.

Former surgeon general Dr. C. Everett Koop once told me why he believes the euthanasia movement will someday dwarf the abortion phenomenon. It is because of what he called "the squaring of the pyramid."
Perhaps one day we'll hear the argument that murdering your husband or wife should be legalized to prevent spouse abuse. Ridiculous as it is, this is the rationale behind the argument that abortion--killing a baby in the womb--will reduce the chances of that child being abused after birth. Seen in context, it's simply illogical.
It is the remote possibility of some distant medical breakthrough--or more commonly--for the convenience of the physician in late-term abortions! I will oppose it for as long as I have breath within my body.
As technology advances, the pornography industry adapts to skirt the law and invade the heartland of the home.
Once born, the deliberate destruction of life is unthinkable. Why, then, is such a baby considered "fair game" when he resides within his mother's uterus?
A guy never has a right to force a woman to have sex with him under any circumstances. She should be able to say no at any point, and he must honor that denial. It is criminal that so many girls and women are raped today. Fully 60 % of all females who lose their virginity before age 15 say that their first sexual experience was forced!1 That is a tragedy with far-reaching consequences. What concerns me is that society has taught young men that they have the right to force themselves on young women.
Christian financial counselor and author Ron Blue said there are four principles for money management that are foundational. If they are implemented in your life, you'll never have a problem with materialism.
Many problems with a blended family can be anticipated and lessened. Others can be avoided altogether. It is possible to blend families successfully, and millions have done it. But the task is difficult, and you will need some help in pulling it off.
Even when elections do not appear to be closely contested, it is a moral outrage that more Christians do not take their voting responsibilities seriously. If they did, this would be a very different nation, and a better one.
The 20th century spawned a generation of professionals who ignored what has been learned in two thousand years of parenting and offered what they considered "better ideas." Most of what they cooked up was ridiculous at best and dangerous at worst.
What are the factors to consider before saying "I do"?
There are many ways to participate in public policy besides voting.
Have you ever wondered what topic Jesus talked about more often than any other? Was it heaven, hell, sin, repentance, love, or His second coming? The answer is none of these. It was money, and most of what He said came in the form of warnings. This caution about possessions and riches appeared throughout Jesus' teachings.
Many couples assume that the excitement of their courtship will continue for the rest of their lives. That virtually never occurs! It is naive to expect two unique individuals to mesh together like a couple of machines and to remain exhilarated throughout life. Even gears have multiple cogs with rough edges to be honed before they will work in concert.
It is true that the traditional family has been buffeted, damaged, weakened, and undermined in recent years. Congress has legislated against it decade after decade. The divorce rate is far too high, and many still-intact marriages are beset by alcoholism, pornography, infidelity, and other virulent infections. No, I would not deny that there is trouble on the home front, but the reports of family disintegration have been exaggerated greatly.
Did you know that grape growers not only trim dead branches from their vines but they also eliminate a certain number of the fruit-producing branches? They sacrifice a portion of the crop so that the fruit that survives will be better. Likewise, we need to eliminate some of our breathless activities to improve the overall quality of the other things we do.
Men and women differ in countless ways, many of which they aren't even conscious of.
Should the definition of the family needed to be revised in light of cultural changes?
Parenting is a very guilty affair, and no one—not one of us—does the job perfectly. We can no more be perfect parents than we can be perfect human beings. The task of raising kids in a fast-paced world is infinitely complex, and life itself takes a toll on our good intentions.
