Why Young People Matter: Engage Culture to Reach the Next Generation with the Gospel

November 30, 2022

1 Timothy 4:12 says, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dr. James Dobson interviews Charlie Kirk. They discuss the importance of reaching young people and encouraging them to step into the culture to make a difference with the gospel. What Is a Woman, According to God?
What is a woman? You might think that this is a simple question. In recent years, however, it has become as hard to answer for many people as an algebra problem, the kind some of us once sweated out in high school. Few topics have created more confusion and a firestorm of vitriol than the discussion of gender ideology. At the Dr. James Dobson Family Institute (JDFI), we understand parents are desperate for answers, and we want to help. A regular JDFI contributor, Dr. Owen Strachan, who is provost and research professor of theology at Grace Bible Theological Seminary, addresses the question of "What Is a Woman, According to God?" in his new essay. We wanted to make it easy to read and available to share with your family and friends, so we've designed it as a downloadable PDF.

According to Charlie Kirk, the battle we are engaging in America is a spiritual battle and not a political one. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Charlie continues his speech on the decline of the foundation of biblical truth and boldness within the Church. He urges listeners to stand firm and hold fast to the convictions of their Christian faith. Galatians 6:19 proclaims, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Joshua 1:9 says, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” On today’s edition of Family Talk, Charlie Kirk, the founder and president of Turning Point USA, states that there are many in the Church who are neither strong nor courageous in the face of society’s changing tide. He points to various issues in our nation and asserts that if the American Church does not rise up, our country will soon fall apart.

After only four months of marriage, Christian singer Jeremy Camp’s wife, Melissa, died of ovarian cancer in 2001. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Jeremy discusses the deep heartache that rocked his entire world and shook his Christian faith. Ultimately, the experience shaped his musical career. In the midst of his grief and pain, 2 Corinthians 4:17 came alive to him. “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”

According to Dr. Jerry Newcombe, so much of what is good about America can be traced back to the Bible. On today’s edition of Family Talk, the executive director of the Providence Forum concludes that there’s not a square mile on planet earth where Jesus has not made a positive difference. From Christian hospitals, orphanages, and schools to Christianity’s contribution to civil liberties, science, and medicine, this world would not be what it is without the Lord’s impact. Colossians 1:16-17 declares, “For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”

On November 11, 1620, the Pilgrims, after fleeing religious persecution by sailing to America aboard the Mayflower and settling in Plymouth Colony, drafted an agreement of self-government under God called The Mayflower Compact. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dr. Jerry Newcombe, executive director of the Providence Forum, says that agreement was the first step toward the creation of the Declaration of Independence 156 years later. He also notes that gratitude to God has been America’s key to success. From the first Thanksgiving 401 years ago to Lincoln’s annual remembrance during the dark days of the Civil War, Americans continue to “give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.”

As a young girl, Tori Hope Petersen grew up in a home where she experienced abuse. As a result, she was placed into the foster care system and remained there until she was 18. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Tori discusses her testimony and memoir, Fostered: One Woman’s Powerful Story of Finding Faith and Family through Foster Care.
