Pastor Al Pittman is on a journey through Joshua, and in chapter three we find the miracle of the crossing of the Jordan.  As is the case with all of God’s miracles, He is going to communicate an important message to us- it’s a brilliant picture for our lives today as Christians.  So let’s go to Joshua three as Al applies the crossing of the Jordan to our lives.

Today on The Dwelling Place the Lord elevates Joshua into a position of leadership. His God-given task was to lead God’s children into the Promised Land…. Something they’d been waiting to do for forty years.  To get there they’d have to cross over the Jordan.  Pastor Al Pittman reminds us the Lord is still raising up leaders today.

The Book of Acts traces the history of the Church from its origin on the day of Pentecost, to its spread throughout the Roman Empire. The growth of the Church is traced to the grace of God, and seen in the missionary activities of the apostle Paul, and those who faithfully served with him. On today’s edition of The Dwelling Place, Paul continues his third missionary journey, and is about to head for Jerusalem. But before he gets there, he has a conversation with some of the disciples.

Many of you have no doubt read through Hebrews eleven- commonly referred to as the Hall of Faith.  The list of Bible heroes includes incredible men that God used in great ways - men like Noah, Moses, and Joseph - names you would expect to see on such a  list. But, there’s also a name included that you perhaps wouldn’t expect to see. Her name is Rahab and she was a prostitute. How can a prostitute be included in the Hall of Faith, you ask? Stay tuned to find out.

Today on The Dwelling Place, pastor Al Pittman will have us consider the faith of Rahab, and show us the difference she made while here on earth - by God’s grace.   This is just part of our new series in the book of Joshua.  Our reference point today will be Joshua two -  where we meet up with Rahab.

Joshua was a great leader, but he was also a servant of God. He trusted God to lead him the enormous task he had before him. The book of Joshua is a great source of inspiration and encouragement.

Told in an easy, narrative tone, the book of Joshua follows the life and times of Joshua, who was charged with the not-so-easy task of leading the Israelites into the Promised Land. Although Joshua encountered opposition, God made good on His promise to never leave him. Let’s see what we can take away from that, shall we?

We’ll continue in Joshua chapter one, of course, where we read of an inheritance promised to the Israelites.  You’ll find Joshua right after Deuteronomy - it is the sixth book in God’s word.

Pastor Al Pittman will join us momentarily to finish up Acts chapter twenty. Before saying his good-byes to the Elders of the Ephesian church, the apostle Paul had some important matters to discuss.  He wanted them to be on the alert, to watch and be warned.  These are exhortations the present day church should take in and apply too!  So let’s turn to Acts twenty and join pastor Al.
