Pastor Al Pittman will join us momentarily to finish up Acts chapter twenty. Before saying his good-byes to the Elders of the Ephesian church, the apostle Paul had some important matters to discuss.  He wanted them to be on the alert, to watch and be warned.  These are exhortations the present day church should take in and apply too!  So let’s turn to Acts twenty and join pastor Al.

We’ve just begun a new series in Joshua, so open your Bible to Joshua chapter one. The Christian has been saved to experience eternal, abundant life with God. But enjoying that abundant life is a cooperative process of surrender and obedience.   There are some great examples of this type of life in the Bible, and none better than Joshua.

God tells Joshua he’s going to lead the people into the Promised Land. Joshua had challenges behind and in front of him that’s for sure, and could have easily become discouraged.  So the Lord has an encouraging word for him, and us!

today marks the beginning of a new journey!  In the coming weeks we plan on going through the entire book of Joshua with you, chapter by chapter.  As pastor Al Pittman brings us an introduction today we can’t help but see how the book speaks of courage, confidence and conquest. The people of Israel are poised and ready to enter the Promised Land, but their leader Moses has died.  The baton of leadership is about to be passed on to Joshua, and that’s where we pick the story up now.

Do you consider your church to be “healthy”? There are certainly signs to be looking out for that would indicate an unhealthy church, and one of them is a lack of forgiveness. Let’s face it - no matter how we might try to avoid it - we are going to do something that hurts another. By word or by action, we offend one another - and we need to be forgiven.

There are several phrases that us human beings find difficult to say. “I’m sorry” is a tough one for a lot of people, and another one is “I forgive you”. That will be pastor Al’s focus today - forgiving one another. When you think about it, if we as a church body were stubbornly refusing to forgive each other, it would make for a very strange meeting every Sunday morning, wouldn’t it?

The greater you value something, the greater you’ll take care of it. If that’s really true, then It’s very telling that there’s such little regard for the Church whom Jesus gave His life for.  So we who love the church ought to care for it and also protect it - especially in light of the very real dangers the church is exposed to in these days of persecution.  We’ll learn more about that today on The Dwelling Place

Today we bring you a message from pastor Al’s new series titled “Healthy Church Fundamentals”. The fundamentals we are considering might also  be called foundations, because a healthy church in the year 2023 has to have a firm and unwavering foundation in order to grow and prosper. One of those foundational principles is service to one another.

Pastor Al is currently sharing a series called “Healthy Church Fundamentals”. The three fundamentals we are looking at are love, serving one another, and forgiveness. We covered love in the first two installments, and today we’ll look at fundamental number two - serving one another.
