Ecclesiastes 3 part 2

May 14, 2019

Our lives revolve around time.  Could you imagine trying to navigate through life without it?  When would we arrive at work, or know when to meet someone, or schedule an appointment without the time?  God is also very concerned about time, and as we’ll see today there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.

As we look around it might be easy for us to conclude that things are spinning out of control, and wonder if God is really in control!  So is He?  Ecclesiastes makes it clear that God is sovereign and everything under His control has its season.  God’s timing is perfect - ours isn’t. So shouldn’t we try to exercise patience and wait for God to act in our lives and show us the way?

Ecclesiastes makes it clear that God is sovereign and that everything under His control has its season.  God’s timing is perfect - ours isn’t. So shouldn’t we try to exercise patience and wait for God to act in our lives and show us the way?  Pastor Al, begins in chapter two, verse nineteen, emphasizing that God is good, and He has a higher purpose for our lives.

Today we again study Ecclesiastes, chapter two. This chapter can be capsulated in two facts: The pursuit of pleasure and possession is futile, and true satisfaction is found in a relationship with Christ. Here we have King Solomon, who had everything a man could want materially, and yet he felt empty and unfulfilled.  Pastor Al speaks today about where true satisfaction is found.

King Solomon was a deep thinker - and realized at a time in his life that the material and sensual pleasures he enjoyed were really worthless. That’s a great lesson for us in this materialistic world we live in. Pastor Al Pittman shares this search for a satisfied life from Ecclesiastics chapter two.

Material possessions have nothing to do with eternal happiness. If you’re looking for a perfect example of this truth, you need look no further than King Solomon. He had everything a man could want - and yet he reached a time in his life when he felt completely empty. The book of Ecclesiastes is the outpouring of those feelings from the heart of Solomon. Today, we finish our study of chapter one.

Ecclesiastes is one of the most practical books in the bible, because it asks a question we ll ask from time to time - what’s the point of life? Now, you would think that a man like Solomon, who had everything a person could want, would never ask that question, but he was really lost at this point in his life. Join us in Ecclesiastes chapter one.

Solomon may have been the first man who suffered a “mid-life crisis”. He had about everything a man could want, yet he felt empty. I don’t know about you, but I know many people who are in that place today. So what is the point of it all? Beginning today, we’ll answer that question with an in depth look at Ecclesiastes.

Today we bring you Al Pittman's final message in his verse by verse series through Colossians. If you summed up this letter, it would be a loving warning to the church of Colossi that they had strayed from the true gospel and were more interested in philosophy and “higher thought” than  the real message of repentance and salvation through Christ.

Have you ever had that feeling that someone was watching you? Well, if you’re a Christian, that feeling is legitimate, because the world is watching. We have an awesome responsibility as believers to live a pure and holy life - so the world will see the difference Christ has made in our lives.

We’re currently studying Colossians, and we’ll be in chapter four, verses two through four. The subject is prayer - and why we should always seek the Lord first and foremost! Too many of us use prayer as a “last resort”, and that’s a real shame. It’s as if we’re telling God, “OK, I can’t figure this out, so it’s your turn to try”. Is that really the message we want to send to God?
