Now, you would think that a man like Solomon, who had everything a person could want, would never ask that question, but he was really lost at this point in his life. If you summed up this letter, it would be a loving warning to the church of Colossi that they had strayed from the true gospel and were more interested in philosophy and “higher thought” than the real message of repentance and salvation through Christ.

We’re currently studying Colossians, and we’ll be in chapter four, verses two through four. The subject is prayer - and why we should always seek the Lord first and foremost! Too many of us use prayer as a “last resort”, and that’s a real shame. It’s as if we’re telling God, “OK, I can’t figure this out, so it’s your turn to try”. Is that really the message we want to send to God?

Children are a real blessing - and a real challenge. But God knows what’s best when it comes to raising Godly children. I think we can all testify to the fact that there are a lot of parents out there who could really use a refresher course in raising kids properly.

Wives submitting to their husbands has been a controversial subject for as long as people have been reading these verses. The only reason there’s any controversy is that people have consistently misinterpreted what Paul’s meaning is.
