Blessed For Success Part 4 - Thyatira part 2

We’re currently studying the message from the Lord to the church in Thyatira, found in Revelation chapter two, verses eighteen through twenty-nine. Without the ability to recognize false teachings, the church of Jesus Christ will eventually be corrupted with all sorts of idol worship, pagan rituals and other assorted sacrilege. That’s precisely what’s going on here as we study this section of scripture.

Satan is on the prowl, and looking for those he can devour. It’s interesting to note that he used the same methods to attack the church back in the first century as he does now. One of the primary ways he attacks the church is through bad doctrine, as we’re about to discover today on the broadcast. The church in Smyrna was suffering persecution for their faith, and also tribulation and poverty. This little passage containing just four verses is a great reminder for us to stay faithful, and that the persecution we experience will pass. Today, pastor Al Pittman will turn our attention to the Lord’s message to the church in Smyrna, found in Revelation chapter two, beginning in verse eight. You know, pain is never fun to experience or even talk about, but pain - both physical and emotional - are facts of life. The church in Smyrna was suffering a barrage of persecution and tribulation, yet the Lord reminds them that they have no reason to be fearful.

Last time on The Dwelling Place, we learned that the church of Ephesus had lost their first love for God, and this prompted a warning from Christ in the form of a letter. Just as the church of Ephesus lost their first love, some still fall into that trap today. The good news for those that have is there is a remedy, and pastor Al Pittman will reveal the solution today.

For the next two weeks our eyes will rest on the seven churches described in chapters two and three. Today we’ll be looking at the Lord’s postcard to the church in Ephesus. The Ephesians were firm in their belief in the Lord as Savior, and their doctrine was strong, but they had walked away from their emotional attachment to Him. Their love had grown cold. It happened to the Ephesians and it’s still happening to Christians today.

Jesus warned us that the world would only get worse, as the end of the age approaches. As natural disasters ravage the earth, false prophets mislead millions, and wars and conflicts continue, it’s not hard to see that Jesus’ words are very true! In these last days, the Lord wants us to reflect His light, and today’s Dwelling Place will encourage us in that direction. It’s part of pastor Al’s new study of the first chapter of Revelation.

It can be daunting, to say the least, but as we go verse by verse through these chapters, I think you’ll come away with a new found knowledge and appreciation for it. And you’ll walk away from it learning a great deal about Jesus and who He is!

After several months of study in the glorious book of Romans, we finish it all up today. And talk about finishing on a high note... it couldn’t get any higher than the glory of God. In the closing verses we find a wonderful doxology that spotlights God’s wisdom and glory. And through it all, Al will ask us, “Is the glory of God the theme of our lives?” Pastor Al will also give us some important tips on recognizing false teaching - which is an enormous concern in the year 2019
