As Christians, our unity is based on the revelation of who Jesus Christ is to us. In John 17, Jesus prayed that we would all be one. In this way, as we rally around the love of God, the world will see Christ living in us.

The church exists for the benefit of non-members. That is, believers are called to preach the Word of God to those who oppose Him. We are to rescue the enemies of God, because at one time we were all God's enemies.

The church of our Lord should be Bible-centered. Its focus should be on teaching the Word, because that is our authority. As we reveal the truth of God by immersing ourselves in the Word, it will produce joy and holiness in our lives.

As Christians, our primary purpose for existing should be to give glory and pleasure to God. If the focus for our lives—and our worship services—is to radiate the glory of God, then we become "road signs," pointing people toward God.
