As shown in Isaiah 6, man needs to be purified of his unholiness before he can stand in the presence of a Holy God. That's the significance of the Cross, where Christ became the perfect sacrifice for sin.

The holiness of God is the essence of His nature - more than His love, or His grace, or His mercy. When Isaiah saw a vision of God, he felt a deep conviction because he saw his own unholiness.

Psalm 139 says that God knew you from the time you were in your mother's womb. It says that all your days were known to God before you even existed. God knows you, and He cares for you.

In Psalm 139, David says that God's work is marvelous. And despite today's widespread belief in evolution, there is evidence of God's power everywhere, from the galaxies of outer space to the intricacy of the human body.

In Psalm 139 David asks where he can flee from the presence of God. But it's really a statement rather than a question. There's nowhere anyone can hide from the presence of God.

In Psalm 139, David marvels at the knowledge of God. He says that God knows all our movements, all our motives, and all our moments. So his reaction is to bow to the majesty of God.

Someone has estimated that man's knowledge doubles every 18 months. But that is insignificant compared to the knowledge of God. God knows literally everything - past, present and future.

In Exodus 34, God describes Himself as abounding in goodness and truth, and as merciful and forgiving. The question is: when people look at you, do they see those traits? Do they see a resemblance to God?
