April 19, 2024

A troubled heart - it’s something we all encounter at one time or another.  And maybe you have a heavy heart as we speak?  The disciples were troubled as well, when they realized their teacher and friend was about to leave them.  But I’m happy to say there is a remedy for such a condition! Turn to John chapter fourteen and let’s draw some comfort from the words of Jesus.

There’s no debating the fact that in this world of ours the majority would much rather be served than serve.  That’s often the case in the church sad to say.  Just look at the average church and their struggle to fill volunteer roles in the nursery, Sunday School teachers, sound ministry workers, and on and on it goes.   We’ll see how greatness is built on the foundation of servanthood today on a Daily Walk as John Randall resumes his study of John.

We’re about to sit in on an argument between the disciples over the question, “Who’s going to be the greatest in the kingdom of God?”  It’s interesting how Jesus would respond, and through it all we discover a valuable lesson on what’s really important in life.  And what a needed reminder for life as we know it in the year 2024.  Pastor John Randall has us turn to the thirteenth chapter of John today on a Daily Walk where we see Jesus lay down a beautiful example of what a servant should look like.

Many of us have run across sceptics and agnostics who claim that if they could only see visible proof of God, or some sort of sign, then they’d believe.  Today on a Daily Walk pastor John Randall will show us that even after Jesus had performed many signs, there were still those that wouldn’t believe. Which just goes to show you, that even when many people see signs and wonders- they often still reject Jesus. We’ll see a number of reasons people don’t believe in John chapter twelve.   It’s a good time to consider our own spiritual state.  Are you living in darkness and need to repent and trust in Christ?

If you knew you only had a few hours to live, what would you do for those last precious moments? A Lot of people would probably enjoy a big meal, travel or spend time with family. When Jesus Christ knew that the time had come for Him to be arrested and crucified, what did He do?  He prays that the Father would be glorified!  One of the best ways to understand the heart of Jesus Christ is to look at the things He did in the last hours of His life, when He knew He was about to be crucified.   Let’s do that with pastor John.

Today on a Daily Walk our teacher, pastor John Randall will present a message on false prophets and teachers. This teaching is based on the Sermon on the Mount, in Matthew chapter seven. False teachers are certainly prevalent today as they were in Jesus’ day. Christ warns us that these false prophets are ravenous wolves in sheep’s clothing. That should serve as a wake-up call to every believer to learn to tell the difference from a true man of God and a ravenous wolf. Today we’ll discover that to learn a man’s intent, you need look no further than his life, and the fruit he bears.

As some of you know, we’re going through the gospel of John right now, and today we’ll stop to have dinner with Jesus.  In chapter twelve Mary pours a very expensive perfume on the feet of Jesus.  While some would view this as a waste, Jesus saw it for what it truly was… worship!

If we were to look back at our lives, we could see peaks and valleys all over the place.   Who could forget those good times like, our wedding day, graduation from High School or College, or getting that job we really longed for.  Then there are the unforgettable valleys... the death of a loved one, economic hardship, divorce, or dealing with a rebellious child.  We all experience hard times, but as Christians there is someone we can turn to for comfort and help!  We’re about to take a look at the death and resurrection of Lazarus, and see where true hope is found when all seems lost!

Many of us have had loved ones who have become sick and subsequently died.  The grief that follows can be overwhelming to us.  But we serve a God who understands, cares for us, and even has power over death.   In the story we’re about to encounter today on a Daily Walk, Jesus’ good friend Lazarus becomes sick, but we’re about to see that this situation will bring glory to God.  I think you’ll find all of this very encouraging for those inevitable trials of life that we all face!

Seems like every time you turn around, there’s a new scam popping up.  And perhaps you’ve been a victim of that in recent years?  There are also people roaming around that are out to rip us off spiritually too, but this should be no surprise, as Jesus said it would be this way. We’re about to see a vivid contrast our Lord gave between the good and the false shepherds from John chapter ten.  We’ll also take notice of what makes the good Shepherd so good!
April 9, 2024
Throughout the Word you’ll discover several I Am statements from Christ.  One of them is, “I am the good Shepherd,” found in John chapter ten.  And we are sheep in desperate need of a good shepherd.  But what makes the good shepherd good?  That’s the question of the day here on a Daily Walk, and pastor John Randall will set out to answer that for us.
