About Face

March 14, 2010
Even in our technologically savvy world we live in, there is nothing that can replace seeing someone face to face. When you can look into the eyes of someone, you are able to read them build into them, see their expressions, what's troubling them, and even what they might be thinking. When God looks into our hearts and soul, he does so with great compassion and desire to see us all out honest and committed to him.

The word "grace" and many forms of it are used in many different ways in our modern vocabulary but the one way that means the most to us as believers is what God pours out to us, even when we don't deserve it. It is a free gift – to us. But to God, it cost him the most precious thing he had – his very son. We may feel like we can't approach the Father but he is so willing and ready to come running to us to forgive us!

It's been said that the race of life is a marathon, not a sprint. So we have to pace ourselves and run without any hindrances or weights that can easily slow us down or even make us want to give up. Take the time to shed yourself of everything that can slow you down or hold you back and run your race – not someone else's race, but YOUR race – all the way to the prize waiting for you at the finish line.

Everyone goes through a time of mourning at sometime in their life. But we do not go through it the same way. How do you deal with loss? A spouse? A child? A job? A house? A friendship? Whatever the case may be, there is only one place that can provide peace to get through the storm. And when you cling to this anchor, people will take notice and often times approach you in what to do when they go through a storm – all for HIS glory!

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
