When I was younger, for some reason, I rarely filled my tank up with gas. I would drive around, almost on empty and then put a few dollars worth of gas in the tank. This would get me by for a couple of days until I precariously ran low again and again! Having a full tank of gas insures that you can drive for many miles.

How’s your spiritual tank doing? Are you running on empty or are you operating with a full tank? Ephesians 5:18 commands us, “…be filled with the Spirit”. The Christian life is a supernatural life and it can only be authentically lived in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Let me suggest you take a moment right now and ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit. Consciously surrender every area of your life to the Spirit’s control and ask for His help. Remember the Holy Spirit is our Helper. Jesus promised that He would guide us into the truth and empower our lives (John 14:16-18, Acts 1;18).

For more study, look up Luke 11:13, John 16:13-15, Acts 1:8, Galatians 3:1-6, Galatians 5:16-25, Romans 8:1-16 and Ephesians 5:18-21. When we are empowered by the Spirit we are living out of a full tank and that’s really living!
