The name Jesus is frequently referred to as “The name above all names”, but why is that? Join Pastor Jack Morris as he explores the wonder of Jesus humbling Himself in taking on the form of a man who made Himself nothing but then was ultimately exalted by God Himself.

Pastor Jack Morris: Friend, it's time for healing. He sent his word and healed them. He sent his word this morning to heal you, your thoughts, your mind, your heart, your body.

Guest (Male): The name Jesus is frequently referred to as the name above all names. But why is that? Join Pastor Jack Morris as he explores the wonder of Jesus, humbling himself and taking on the form of a man who made himself nothing, but then was ultimately exalted by God himself.

Pastor Jack Morris: Friend, there's no other name in heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. Did you hear what I just said? There is no other name The world is looking for somebody to be their leader and to bring us out of this chaos that we have been in for a couple of years and now war and and racism and it just goes on and on and on and the church is being caught up emotionally in this forgetting that we are children of God and citizens of heaven. Friend, we're not here but a short time. But there's a name and you have that name in your heart.

His name is Jesus. There is no other name. Listen to these words again. Therefore, God exalted him to the highest place and gave him a name above all names. And Jesus said in my words, I'm paraphrasing, use my name. It'll usher you into the throne of grace where you have mercy and grace, kindness like you've never had before in the time of need. This is our Savior's gift to us, his name, that wonderful name of the Lord. Uh would you put there it is on the screen already. Would you read that in unison right now together?

Therefore, God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every day. Friend, use that name. Don't be frugal with that name. That name brings you into the presence of God. And if you want to get into the presence of God, you will speak that name often. And if you don't speak the name often, you're on the outside. But the gates of heaven opens and we are ushered in to that most holy place. And that name that is above every name provides us the access. Now look at that very first word.

Therefore, can you say that? Therefore simply means everything that has gone on and has been said before. So that takes us back to last Sunday's message on the humility of Christ. For we will not Listen to me, friends. You and I cannot understand in any measure the exaltation of Jesus until we know something about his humiliation. You got to be down before you can come up. And the Lord is here today to help us and to understand and to open heaven to us that we might know the blessings of God. Look at verse eight. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself.

Okay. That word therefore forces us back. I cannot go on until I I do what the Bible says in the order that the Bible gives us. We read through this chapter and go through that word therefore. The word therefore says stop. Stop. Don't go on. Look at the humiliation where there's no exaltation without humiliation. So I have to stop. You have to. We are stopped now to look at how he humbled himself being in the nature of God or to understand what that means. We'll never fully understand because it simply means whatever God is made of, Jesus is made of.

He's made of the same I was going to say stuff. But he's made See, I I have the nature of my father. I'm made of the same stuff that my father and mother were made of human. But Jesus is made of that which God is made of, whatever God is made up. And then it says that he had equality with God. He gave up that nature to come down and to be a man and to have the nature of a man. He gave up equality with God. It wasn't something that he wanted to hold on to because he looked at us and he knew we would never get out of this terrible, terrible fix and predicament that we're in.

And until somebody would come and rescue us and there's no one else but him who could come and do the rescuing. And so then equality of God, the attributes of God, the nature of God, the prerogatives of God, he gave it all up. Friend, do you ever think that I what I gave up for Jesus with really I can't think of anything really compared to what he gave up and came to us. And he made himself nothing. He did it to himself. Notice he made himself nothing. First, he made himself a man, gave up the nature of God, took on the nature of a man, became a man.

Then he became a servant. Watch him. He goes down. He goes further down. He goes deeper down. He keeps going down, down, down becomes a servant washing the feet of fishermen. What What a ministry. He keeps going down, but he doesn't stop there. He goes further down. He went to the cross and he became a curse for us. He lifted the curse off of us and put it on himself. Cursed it is everyone who hangs on a tree. Now I can go and look at the exaltation of Christ. God's going to lift him up from a curse, from a servant, from a man back to God's own right hand.

And he's going to take me with him and he's going to take you with him. We sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Therefore, we've looked at the humiliation. Watch him now. He comes up in resurrection. Death, but resurrection comes. The Jesus prayed this prayer right before he's crucified. He prays this This is just a part of it. He says, and now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world was. Whatever I had before I left heaven and came to earth, God, take me back and restore it.

That's what he's praying. With the glory I had with you before the world was. And God lifted him up to life. And then it says that God lifted him up to the highest place. Where is that highest place? Wherever it is, that's where God lifted him, a place of power, a place of authority, a place of position, his own right hand. The serpent bruised our Savior's heel, but Jesus stomped his head. The devil is defeated regardless of what is going on in the world today or even in your life, in your marriage, in your family, in your career, in your finances.

The devil is defeated and God's going to bring you out. You have to believe that and you will come out victoriously with great glory. He will lift you. He will lift you and this is the day of being lifted up. Oh, I could look around and get depressed and get sad. There's a plenty of work in this world to make that happen. Two times here. Little things. Sometimes it's not the big things that get to us, but it's those little things. See, I to get Karen to the church and she loves the church and I want to get her here.

Nobody loves the Largo Community Church. That's you people more than she loves you. That's true. I know that. I live with her. You know that, don't you? She just talks about you all the time. Are we going to church? Are we going to church? Well, I went to Baltimore and I bought a lift to get her in and out of the car because I know if my back gives way, I don't know. I'm the caretaker. What am I going to do? And so I got this lift. Thousands of dollars it cost. Last Sunday, we got her already and the lift didn't work.

And I I got her in the car. This Sunday, got her already. Put her in the Got her to the car. Hooked hooked her all up. Hit the button. The lift didn't work. Uh dear Lord, and I were coming in. I I asked Karen. I told I spoke to her and I said, whatever God is trying to teach me, I wish I would learn it very quickly. During the week, it worked and we would go to the store or something of a taker. It would work. But come Sunday morning, so I called the man that installed the lift in charge of me all those thousands of dollars.

I think I got him out of bed. I I hope I got him out of bed. I had the car over there this past week and I told him that I said that's not working. I should have said on Sundays. And so I called him at 8:00 on the way in. And I said I got her in the car, but it's not working. I took it over They didn't fix it. So the the devil just eats at you with those little irritations. Don't raise your hand, but anybody here get irritated about something? But when it comes in bunches but the Lord helps us and gives us special grace and blessing, resurrection to the highest place to the right hand of God.

You see, my God, your God, the Lord Jesus who came to reveal that God to us, he stomped the serpent's head and David brought down the giant Goliath. Friend, some of you There there's a giant in your life right now. You're trying to bring that giant down but I don't know what you're doing, but let me tell you what to do. The name that is above every name that's for you to use. And you will overcome in a great victory. You will overcome. Yeah, Satan stomped Jesus stomped Satan's head. Satan bit his heel. But Goliath came down and he's coming down in your life.

Everyone who has a Goliath right now would just say amen. Okay. Goliath keeps coming, but the name of Jesus never fails. The Lord gives us victory all the way. But he was resurrected. Takes the disciples out to the Mount of Olives to Bethany. He tells them to go into all the world and preach the gospel to all people. I just think about the people in Russia. As I mentioned last week, I was there. I did a two-week block course, three credit for for two weeks at the Moscow Theological Institute. I walked through the square that we usually see on television when it when it shows the armies of Russia marching through the square with their their missiles and their great army.

Walked through that square and looked at those people and I I met some of the finest Christian people. You would love them. They would love you, the Largo Community Church. And then I think of the Christians there in Ukraine, what they're going through, how they are suffering. There are our brothers and sisters. We don't know them, but they belong to us and we belong to them and we will pray for them and seek God's blessings upon them and God's protection upon them in the name of the Lord. But here is our Savior now at the right hand of God.

And I have yet on any news Washington Post, all of the TV news stations. I have yet any hear anybody say anything about prayer. Somehow any has even gotten into the church. Somehow Christians have stopped praying, thinking that they can fix the problem. Friend, you're not going to fix it without the name, the name of the Lord Jesus. That will bring down Goliath and nothing else will. Christians don't get caught up. Oh, we have in God we trust on our coins and everywhere, but I haven't heard anybody say in God we trust. We're trusting in our machinery, our bombs or whatever.

And the Lord would have us to trust in him. And whatever the the irritation, however big it is or however little it is that irritates you like I've been irritated every Sunday morning before I got in here when God has blessed and helped. And he's going to take us through victorious. But when Jesus went out to the Mount of Olives telling you the disciples to go into all the world and preach or distribute or circulate, tell the people the good news of me. Tell the people of the good news of my humility. Tell the good news of my exaltation.

Go tell somebody. The word won't return void. It'll accomplish a purpose. And then the scripture says angels stood on either side of him. Those very angels that escorted him from heaven, those very angels that looked upon that manger in Bethlehem, in that stable. The angels before the manger saw that little tiny baby coming out of the womb of Mary, that little tiny baby that spoke words into existence. Now as a man, all for you and me, all for us what God has done for us. Who is this king of glory heaven calls back? The Lord strong and mighty and the Lord mighty in battle.

Who is this king of glory? The Lord of hosts. He is the king of glory and he enters into heaven where your name is on the books, called the book of life, the heaven that you and I are promised, the heaven that he's gone to prepare a place for us. Praise God. We're passing through, just passing through. We're not stuck here forever. We're all getting older. Jesus may come before he calls us individually. But if he comes, he'll call us then collectively. He will name that holy name, that wonderful name. The word name in Hebrew means office, rank, dignity, power, authority.

All that name will bring Goliath down every time. Trust that day. Believe that word, that name that he has given power over weariness, power, authority over affliction, over temptation, over being tried, over being tested. Oh, some of you are there right now, right now. You're here not by accident, but the Holy Spirit put a desire in your heart to be here to hear what I'm saying that he might remind us all again through this message to call on that name. Now you notice in your bulletin in your sermon outline, there's no conclusion. I didn't put a conclusion in it.

I thought what how can I conclude it? And as I was putting the message together in the outline form in my heart, in my mind silently it's very real. God said there is no conclusion. The glory of the Lord goes on forever and forever, world without end. There is no conclusion. There is victory upon victory upon victory. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not to your own understanding. Trust in the Lord. Use that name. It'll take you right to the throne of grace. God will not turn you down. He is your heavenly Father.

Well, I have to stop the sermon. I've maybe already gone on too long now. Those of you who are weary, you've tried you've tried almost everything that you could possibly think of and you're still tired and you're still weary because the battle hasn't been won or the victory hasn't been obtained. Affliction that's the stress that has caused physical pain, physical agony. People are streaming today who are in great physical need and some of you need a healing touch, physical healing touch. Some of you are being tempted, tempted and tried, tempted and tested. You can't seem to stop those thoughts that that pull, that drag that the world has on you.

Friend, it's time for healing. He sent his word and healed them. He sent his word this morning to heal you, your thoughts, your mind, your heart, your body. We're going to bow before the Lord and I want you to bow your heads now for this is the moment of healing. Father God, for those who are weary, for those who are tired mentally, for those who have tried and it just hasn't worked out. They've done their best, but their best is not good enough, only your best. Only your best. Dear Lord, help that person. Even now, I pray healing will come.

Wholeness will come. There are those who are sick, afflicted, suffering, taking an inordinate amount of medication. But they're here where they're streaming. God lay the your nail scarred hand of healing upon them, I pray. For those who are tempted, the world is a drag. Things they don't believe in, they don't want. They're resisting. They're afraid they're going to succumb. God, help them to know that you're with them, never to leave them. Standing there, empowering them, those who are being tried, tested. Dear Lord, today is their day. Today is their day. Now friend, if I've mentioned anything that you are experiencing and maybe I didn't mention something that you're experiencing, but it's negative, I want all of you to stand up.

Those of you who are I want you to stand up right now. Where you are, just stand up. In the name of Jesus. Now I'm going to start pray. And when I say in the name of Jesus, I'm going to stop and you are to in your heart, you don't even have to say it out loud. You whisper it to him. The weariness, the tiredness, the temptation, the affliction, whatever it is, name it specifically. I'm going to say in the name of Jesus and when I do, I'm going to stop and there's going to be a silence but you call out laying hold of the name of Jesus, the name of Jesus laying hold of you.

Today is your day. Father, you see those dear ones on their feet right now. They're not looking to themselves at the moment. They're looking to you. There may be weariness, tiredness, temptation, difficulty, problems, family problems, marital problems, financial problems, career problems. Uh Lord, this is a world of negativism. But we know of another world and I pray for them. I'm praying for them now as they pray for their particular situation. I pray in the name of Jesus.

Guest (Male): If you were to take away a truth from today's message, let it be that Jesus is the great physician, healing body, soul and spirit, and came into this world as a humble servant to save us from our sins. Praise him today for this wonderful act of selfless love. If today's message strengthened your faith, we invite you to stand with a healing word through your prayers and your generous support. Every gift helps us take the gospel to more people who desperately need to hear that Jesus still saves. Join us tomorrow for another healing word message. Until then, blessings on you.

Free eBook- God's Wonders Made Visible

In God’s Wonders Made Visible, Pastor Jack Morris reflects on John chapter 9, where Jesus notices a man who has been blind from birth. This wasn’t a recent hardship; it had shaped the man’s entire life. He didn’t ask for help, and he didn’t draw attention to himself.

But Jesus saw him, and He chose that long-standing need as the place where God’s work would be made visible.
