Pastor Jack Morris: What is it that you need? Why are you holding back? If the blood of Jesus is there, and if you have confessed and repented of your sins, then it is there. All you need to do is say, Father, I'm coming to you in Jesus' name. Will you pray your prayer and you conclude it in Jesus' name? Because Jesus is there in your heart. That means you can come today. You have access. You don't need an appointment. God says come.

Guest (Male): Welcome to The Healing Word, a ministry dedicated to offering strength and encouragement through God's word for anyone facing life's challenges. Today's message is here to meet you at your point of need, bringing hope and renewing your faith now. Here's Pastor Jack Morris.

Pastor Jack Morris: The sermon title is Access to God. And that's another thing, friend. Access to God, that you and I can come to God and talk to God face to face in faith, by faith, with faith, knowing that he is with us to hear and answer our prayer. The veil in the temple that caused separation no longer exists. The veil represented the body of Jesus. And when the body of Jesus was rent, so was that veil. And a new and a living way was opened up and today you and I can come to God whenever, wherever, talk to him, and he hears and answers our prayer.

That is awesome. That is amazing. I mean, I have no access to the president of the United States or a lot of the dignitaries. No access whatsoever. But to the almighty God, creator of heaven and earth, who gives us the breath that we breathe, in whom we live and move and have our being, I have access. You have access. That's awesome. Absolutely awesome. On the first line, line A, write down the word veil, the veil. For weeks, we have been looking at this picture. We'll look at it today and then we'll look at it one more time next week.

But I pray that you and I will never forget the blessing, that we will always remember the blessing, what God went through to bring us into his presence. It's easy for us. It certainly was not easy for him. God brought us to himself. Here is where the presence of God is. This is the holy place. This is the most holy place or the holy of holies. This whole building is called the tent of meeting. There's the sacrifice, the slaughter, the altar, the laver of cleansing, and then we go in. And all of that Jesus took care of it.

We don't have to go through that ritual, that ceremony. Jesus went through it all and blessed us with this access into the presence of God. Okay, now we're we're above the tabernacle looking down. Last Sunday, we were in this area. The curtain was moved. We went into the table of showbread, the altar of incense, the golden candlestick. Today, the veil, this heavy curtain, is going to be moved aside and we're going in. We're going in. We're going in to see Jehovah. Awesome. I am stirred so deeply. Let me go back, quickly back. This tabernacle was a wilderness tabernacle.

It for 40 years allowed the people of God to worship God in the desert all the way from Egypt chin bondage all the way to Jerusalem into the promised land. For 40 years, this was a portable church. You might call it like we used to call and still do, the Largo Community Church, the church without walls. These could be taken down. These are just curtains all around here and posts that are dug in put into the ground, that be dissembled when the pillar of fire by day and the by night and the pillar of smoke cloud by day began to move, the men would hurriedly dissemble this whole thing, pack it up, and they would start following and until they followed the Lord 40 years and eventually went into the promised land.

There's something that happened when they went into the promised land. David became king of Israel. And David felt a conviction come over him when he looked at the house that he lived in. And he said, I live in a house made of cedar, a mansion. And God lives in a tent covered with animal skins. He said, I live so comfortably. I'm the king. But God lives in a tent. He said, we're going to make a house for God. We're going to build for God. Now, the building is that was built is referred to as Solomon's temple.

But it was actually David who got the idea. It was David who drew the plans, who amassed the great wealth and all of the materials. And it was David who purchased the site. But it was David's son, Solomon, who actually erected the temple. Now, nobody knows exactly what the temple looked like. But no expense was spared. This is a a picture of of Solomon's temple. And um we're not sure what it looked like, but there has never been a structure built on the face of this earth that cost as much or that was as beautiful as Solomon's temple.

It was beautiful beyond words to describe. It was the year 966 BC, almost a thousand years before Christ, that this temple was built. The tabernacle was dissolved. It It came down, but the ark of the covenant was put in this structure somewhere. We're not sure exactly where, but looking down on it, there's the most holy place, the holy place and the most holy place. Out here is the altar. There They say there were The scripture tells us a beautiful sea. This was very large. This was so very large. Uh a beautiful sea. And And around the the perimeter, there were statues and and and of magnificent wealth beyond words.

You see, God deserves the best. Friend, stop cheating on God. Stop being chintzy with God. God wasn't chintzy with me or you, was he? And David, the scripture says, was a man after God's own heart. Now, that's real worship, isn't it? And he built this huge, magnificent structure. Let me go back. No expense. And when it was built, according to Chronicles chapter seven, the first worship service was a dedication service. And uh Solomon took the animals just like they did in the tabernacle in the wilderness, took the the lamb, slayed the lamb and the bull, splashed the blood on the altar and then put the animal on the altar.

And before there they could start the fire, before they could start the fire, fire fell from heaven and and all of the people were there who were there exited themselves because they couldn't stand the presence of the fire that came down upon them. You know, sometimes I feel like in some of our worship services, we've had so much activity during the week that we come in here. Thank God we're here. But we We have to sort of get psyched up. And And I've been praying and I pray everywhere, Lord, visit us. This is our holy sanctuary.

Let the presence of the Holy Spirit come, the fire of God. Let the Lord come down upon us. The scripture says the the glory of the Lord like smoke, like a great cloud, filled the whole place. And it was so filled with the glory of the Lord that the priests couldn't minister. They had to go on the outside. And when the people saw the fire falling from the sky consuming the sacrifice, when they saw the the cloud of glory, Shekhinah glory, when they saw the priests run out of the sanctuary because the place was so filled with God, the people, the scripture says, bowed on the pavement and with their knees and they put their head on the floor because God was there and they were bowing in holy awe before the presence of the Lord.

Friend, I want to I want to learn how to worship God. I've been learning how for years and years, but still in my heart and I yearn for myself and I yearn for this congregation for a divine visitation of God, that God would visit us, that there would be nothing that would distract us from God, that we would truly know his power and his presence. And I believe today, today, you can know it individually and collectively. We can know God and experience his power and his presence. I believe God is here right now to hear your prayer.

You can go behind the veil and talk to him with any request that you have. God has made you somebody special. You were in his eyes somebody special even before he did all of this. That's why he did all of this, to get you to himself. God wants to get you there. Did you ever see just a little baby, a child, and you just feel like you just want to pick it up and squeeze it? Well, God looks at you that way. He just wants to hold you, but he can't. He can't abide my sin or your sin.

I mean, he's got to clean this up. And when he gets us all cleaned up, then he'll pull us and hold us, hug us, take care of us, provide for us. This was Solomon's temple. And when the glory of the Lord came down, Solomon said something to this effect. He said, I have built this. But he said, it's inadequate. It's inadequate. He said, how could I build a structure that would contain God when the heaven of heavens cannot contain him? This is inadequate. And how often I feel that way myself and I I I want to continue to feel that.

I'm just an inadequate Christian. I I'm I'm following the Lord, but I'm sort of stumbling as I go, you know. It's We We live in a world that that is putting difficult things in front of us to And And the enemy will see to it that there will be things that will distract you. He will I can guarantee And he's already done it. And if you're honest with yourself, you'll say amen to it. He's already put so many attractions before you that you Sometimes it's It's hard to get ready and come to church. We think, oh, I could be in Ocean City.

I could be here. I could be there. I could be working and making double time. I could You know, yeah, you could be doing a lot of things. And so could I. But God is worthy of praise and of worship. And I've got to put him first. I have to. Don't you? Don't you feel that way? Yeah, I just feel so inadequate at times. Try as I will, yet I know that there are times that I'm not really making the mark. And that's what Solomon said. He said all of this and the fire and the glory.

And he said, it's just not enough. It's just not enough. The blessing of the Lord, what God has done.

Pastor Jack Morris: Now, point C in your outline, write down the word meaning, the meaning of that veil. And I'm going to turn with you now if you'd like to turn, but you don't have to. You can just listen if you like to Hebrews chapter 10 verses 19 and 20. Hebrews 10 19 and 20. Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence Remember that word confidence. You might even want to underscore it. Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the most holy place How? By the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way open for us through the curtain.

That is his body. We know that curtain represented his body. It is plainly stated in the scripture, humanity and divinity. Now, look at this curtain again. On this side is where the priest was ministering on this side of the curtain. On that side of the curtain is where God was, Jehovah, the Shekhinah glory. So look at a at a curtain. Here's a curtain that is hanging. It has two sides. I can look at this side or I can come around and I can look at this side. They say like a coin. There's two sides to every coin.

On this side, it was viewed by human eye. On this side, it was viewed by the eye of Jehovah. On this side, human eyes looked at him. It speaks of the life of Jesus, the life that he lived. He walked among men. He taught the gospel to men. He healed the sick. People watched him, watched him, watched him. And when it came time for the trial, no one could lay a charge against him, not even pilot. With all of the wisdom of Rome, pilot says, I have examined this man and I find no fault with him.

So human eye on this side looked at his life. His life was pure. His life was holy. His life was right with God. But on this side, it was God whose eye brought light and divinity upon him constantly. And so we see the veil, human on this side, divine on the other side with the eye of God. Now, point D. Did I ask you to write down the word objective? Write down the word objective. The objective of this veil. Now, I am going to turn quickly to Leviticus chapter 16. Let me get over here very quickly.

Leviticus chapter 16 verse two. Just listen to this. The Lord said to Moses, Listen, friends, when God says something in Jesus' name, listen and obey it. Don't try to rationalize it. Just do it. Have you ever heard that slogan anywhere? Just do it. You'll win every time. Okay. The Lord said to Moses, tell your brother Aaron. Now, Aaron was the high priest that was to go behind that veil once a year. Tell your brother Aaron not to come, not to come, not to come whenever he chooses into the most holy place behind the curtain, in front of the atonement cover on the ark, or else he will die because I appear in the cloud over the atonement cover.

Friend, going to church, serving God is no light thing. It's pretty serious business, isn't it? It's wonderful business serving God. When you do it God's way, you don't feel guilty, you don't feel ashamed, you don't have to hang your head. Just do it. Whatever he says, do it. And the blessing of God will be there upon you. Now, what's the objective? The objective of this veil here is to hide, to separate, to say don't come. You'll die if you don't. I mean, how some people can can just pray to God asking for a blessing, knowing all the while that they're not doing what's right.

It's a wonder God doesn't strike some people dead. He told Aaron, tell him you don't come whenever you want to come. You come when I tell you to come. It's separated. Friend, if there's any sin in your life today, please for your own sake confess it and repent of it and get right with God. The blessing of God will come upon you. If you say, well, I've been a Christian a long time, but but you know, there are certain things about the Bible I don't understand and and I can't really abide by it. Friend, that kind of half-hearted following the Lord is not following the Lord.

You might be living a good moral life and be upstanding and respected and loved and appreciated by all. But God sees the heart. God looks within. And the only way to get sin out Someone will say, I'm not sinning. When you don't obey the whole word of God, you're sinning. For disobedience is sin. But God calls us to obedience. Jesus obeyed the father in all ways, in every way. Without exception, he did God's will. Now, this curtain was to keep people out of the presence of God. This curtain was the body of Jesus. This curtain represented the life that he lived.

So there are people today that will say things like, well, I think Jesus was a great fellow. I think he was a good man. I believe in his moral teachings. I believe that the sermon on the mount is one of the greatest pieces of literature that has ever been written. I mean, people will complement Jesus. Have you ever told anybody I know him. He's my savior. Yeah. He looks for the worship of our hearts. But it was not his life that that brings us into the presence of God. I appreciate his miracles. I I love his teachings.

I I want to obey his teachings. I seek to do so with his grace to obey his teachings. But people don't go to heaven because they believe that the sermon on the mount is the best literature that has ever been written or a piece of the greatest literature. People don't go to heaven because Jesus performed miracles and because Jesus was here. People go to heaven not because he lived, but because he died. Leviticus chapter 16 verse two. Tell him don't be presumptuous. Don't just walk in. You've got to come with blood. I pray today, friend, whatever it is, whatever it is that's standing in your way of coming to the Lord, that the Holy Spirit will rip it and help you to know that there's an open door, that you can come in.

God is welcoming us into his presence. This was the hand of the Lord. Now, I want you to look at this passage of scripture in Hebrews chapter 10. It says that we are now to come with confidence, meaning it is your right to come. It is your privilege. It is now proper for you to come to the throne of grace. Their way has been opened and you can pray and come into his presence today, this afternoon, tomorrow, when you're driving your car. Why? Because Jesus died and washed your heart and the blood of Jesus is on the altar of your heart.

And when God sees the blood, he accepts you in. You're welcome to come in. That why so many people are praying today, prayers that absolutely mean nothing, ritual, sermonistic, uh ceremonial type of prayers. They sound good at at gatherings, political gatherings, social gatherings, sports gatherings. But we're talking about going behind the veil, entering into the presence of God. So come today. What is it that you need? Why are you holding back? If the blood of Jesus is there and if you have confessed and repented of your sins, then it is there. All you need to do is say, Father, I'm coming to you in Jesus' name.

Will you pray your prayer and you conclude it in Jesus' name? Because Jesus is there in your heart. That means you can come today. You have access. You don't need an appointment. God says come. God says come. The veil has been rent. You're a priest unto the Lord. Jesus is in your heart. The blood of Christ is on the altar of your heart. Come. Come. Come to the Lord. Pray your prayer even now as we bow before the Lord. Bow your heart before him. If there's a sin that is there, if the Holy Spirit speaks to you a conviction like he spoke to me when I was little flip it about the tithe and teaching tithing, you know, I got a little bit light with it and the Holy Spirit spoke to me.

Listen, the Holy Spirit talks. If he's talking, listen. If there's guilt, listen. And then confess it to the Lord and he'll wash it away. Just come on in. Friend, whatever your need is, whatever you're praying about, don't hesitate. Say, Lord, I I don't know whether I should pray about this or not. Yes, you should. God says come on in. Come with confidence. It's the right thing to do. It's the proper thing to do. Come on in. Pray to the Lord now. Will you Let's bow before him.
