A Brookings Institution column this year concluded this way: “Though President Trump is a candidate whose personal behavior has often been at odds with the values espoused by many evangelicals, any potential path he has to remain in the White House after January 20, 2021 must pass between the pews of white evangelical churches. In turn, Democratic Party leaders have opportunities to interrupt that passage by paying attention to evangelicals, especially unaffiliated evangelicals persuadable to add their votes to the 2020 Democratic coalition.”In short, Evangelical Christians are the key voting demographic in a national election, which explains why there is so much effort expended to make them vote a certain way...

The Republicans held their National Convention this week, nominating President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence to be their nominees at the top of the ticket. With the Democrat and Republican conventions being held in back-to-back weeks, it was a good opportunity to contrast what each party supports and opposes.Last week on the program, we discussed how the Democrats have become the party of Romans 1, “suppressing the truth in unrighteousness” as they openly advocate for abortion, homosexuality, and religious restrictions in clear opposition to God.This week we’ll examine the Republicans and how their platform and policies measure up against God’s word. You’ve probably heard someone lament, “Democrats and Republicans—they’re all the same.” But is that really true? The Democrat Party held their National Convention this week, nominating Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as their nominees for President and Vice President. Many of the luminaries of the Democrat Party made speeches at the convention, from former Presidents Obama and Clinton to Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and more.So what does the Democrat Party stand for that half of our electorate will support? A simple and accurate answer to that question is: Romans 1:18-32. In other words, the party and its leaders “suppress the truth in unrighteousness” (Romans 1:18) through their rejection of God and His law.Think that’s an overstatement? Then tune in this weekend to The Christian Worldview to hear excerpts of various speeches from their convention and official party platform.
