Can Critical Race Theory be used as an “analytical tool”? Length: 3:10

The Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) is the largest Protestant denomination in the U.S. Having turned from theological liberalism in the 1980s in an era known as the “conservative resurgence”, the SBC is now in another bellwether battle over three issues, all centered around the question of whether Scripture is sufficient in all matters of life and faith…or not. Last week in part 1, we discussed the first issue of women teaching men, or more broadly, women exercising authority of men in the church and home (1 Tim. 2:11- 15 [Open in Logos Bible Software (if available)] ). There is a great divide taking place in the SBC over this, with Beth Moore, asserting that complementarian theology (i.e. God has established separate yet complementary roles for men and women) paves the way for men abusing women. In part 2 today, Tom Ascol, pastor and producer of the documentary film By What Standard?, joins us again to examine the second issue being debated—race and the worldview of Critical Race Theory. A resolution on Critical Race Theory was passed at the 2019 SBC annual meeting resolving that the Marx-based, oppressor v. oppressed worldview could be used as an “analytical tool”...

The Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) is the largest Protestant denomination in the United States, with an average weekly attendance of over five million people at affiliated churches and an overall membership of nearly 15 million. A rare example of a Christian organization turning from theological liberalism, as it did in the 1970s and 1980s in an era known as the “conservative resurgence” (previously the denomination was pro-abortion), the SBC is now embroiled in another bellwether battle, primarily over three issues: women teaching men, race, and professing Christians with homosexual desires...

What is your response to Beth Moore saying that complementary theology has paved the way for sexual abuse in the SBC? Length: 3:30

Canadian Jordan Peterson is a psychology professor, author of the wildly popular book, The 12 Rules for Life, and speaks to large audiences all over the world. Ben Shapiro is also a well-known author and speaker and has been called “the voice of the conservative Millennial movement.” Both men are known for strongly pushing back against the Cultural Marxist worldview that dominates higher education, media, culture, and the political Left and which seeks to overthrow those they perceive as oppressors (Christians, males, whites), creating “social justice” for the oppressed (women, homosexuals, minority ethnicities and religions, homosexuals). With Marxism being a God-rejecting, humanistic worldview, many Christians find common cause with Peterson and Shapiro, who are standing up to the Left at a deeper philosophical and moral level than the typical Left v. Right battles of conservative political commentators such as Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. But is there something Christians should be wary of in being influenced by the worldview of Peterson and Shapiro, who mix human wisdom with some truths borrowed from Scripture, yet without The Truth of Christ?
