How Much of the Gospel Must One Understand to Become a Christian?

February 20, 2010
The jailer in Phillipi asked one of his inmates, the Apostle Paul: "What must I do to be saved." Paul's answer was simple, "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ." But what does it mean to "believe in Jesus"? Here's how some would answer: "You just have to accept Jesus into your heart."
The question we will grapple with in Hour 1 of The Christian Worldview is this: How much of the gospel must one understand to be saved? Is it necessary to understand all aspects and ramifications of Christ's sacrifice or is it enough just to "believe in Jesus" as Paul seems to say?
As a lead-up to this topic, read our new presentation of the gospel on TheChristianWorldview.com entitled, How To Be Right With God.
