We tend to think in terms of the here and now, and that’s understandable—we live here and we’re living now!  But this world is not home for believers.  If we’re too focused on the things of this world and never give a thought to living in the light of tomorrow, we won’t live well in the HERE and NOW! This might all sound like a challenging riddle, but the Apostle Peter uses this line of thinking to warn us about the risk of becoming so earthbound and seduced by the things of this world that we lose sight of heaven.  But what does living in light of tomorrow look like? In this message, Stuart Briscoe teaches from 2 Peter about living in anticipation of the eternal days to come, so that we can live our best life now.

Why are we here? What is our purpose? Jesus in us defines our calling, our being, and our mission on earth. In this message, Pete shares how Jesus demonstrated purpose in His own life, and how He creates purpose in us too.

Romans 8:28 tells us that God works all things for the good to those who love Him.  But this promise is hard to believe when we suffer through difficult circumstances.  And if we’re honest, it seems like there’s no way God is working in all things, because much of what happens to us is totally contrary to all that God is and all that God stands for. So where does this leave us? In this message, Stuart Briscoe unpacks Romans 8:28 to help us come to terms with our feelings of doubt and have complete faith and hope that God really is at work in our lives.

We have an insatiable desire to control and manipulate what happens around us—all in pursuit of achieving happiness.  But the truth is we have very little control of what’s happening around us and hence little chance of finding the happiness that eludes us. As believers in Jesus, should the pursuit of happiness really be our end goal?  Do we need God to fix our happenings, or do we need God to fix our attitudes? In this message, Stuart Briscoe teaches from Nehemiah where we learn where to find stability, security, and well-being—and discover where God wants us to focus our minds so we can rejoice and be glad even in uncertain days.

No one likes being told what to think. So we shouldn’t be surprised when quarrels erupt over issues like environmentalism, immigration, or health care reform. It’s easy to find yourself in a heated discussion that only leads to strained and broken relationships. In Matthew 10:16—we’re told to be “shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves” as we interact with the world. But what does that look like in practical terms? In this message, Pete presents a model for thinking through issues like these so you can decide what decisions to make—or what positions to take—concerning todays hot topics.

We live in a world where moral and immoral ideas, life-giving and life-ending ideas, and liberty-affirming and rights-restricting ideas are all thought to have merit and be worthy of consideration. As a result, claiming that Jesus is the remedy for every hurt, transgression, broken situation, and societal ill is likely be met with a sneer. But we can’t let sneers, name-calling, or fear stop us from sharing the incredible gift of Jesus. Paul never did. He was bold, even in the face of resistance and crowds of hecklers. In this message, Pete Briscoe digs into Acts 17 to show us what motivated Paul to time and time again proclaim Jesus, even in the most pagan-loving city of all, Athens. It’s a message for us now as we struggle to tell a resistant world about Jesus.
