Pastor J.D. Greear

Freed from the Law, for the Law

November 5, 2021

It’s been said that Christianity is more like a relationship than a religion. Religions are about what you do, while the gospel is about what God did for you. But if that’s the case, why do Christians still follow certain rules? Why do we still go to church, read our Bibles, and try to obey the Ten Commandments? Pastor J.D. answers these questions as he continues our series called, Freedom in the In-Between.

Request Elijah and Elisha: An 8-Day Scripture Guide now.
In our workbook, this month, we’ll walk through Scripture from 1 Kings 17 through 2 Kings 6, through the ministries of Elijah and Elisha. Elijah confronted a religious environment very much like our own, one characterized by the attitude, “You have your god, and I have mine.” Elijah, one of the most fascinating characters in Scripture, shows us that knowing the one true God is better than every other rival. Then we’ll take some time to examine the life of one of the greatest miracle workers in all of Scripture: the prophet Elisha. The secret behind Elisha’s power here on earth was his fierce devotion to the God of heaven. Elisha left behind an amazing legacy in this life, not because he was thinking of this life but because he was focused on the greater things that were ahead. Reserve your copy now.

We’re getting an important and humbling reminder about our dependence on God as we continue our study in Galatians called, Freedom in the In-Between.

The word “gospel” literally means, “good news.” It assures us that we’re saved by Jesus’ blood alone, not by anything we do. But how can we really know if the gospel we find in scripture is accurate? How do we know it wasn’t just a clever conspiracy the disciples came up with to gain a following? Pastor J.D. addresses those questions as he continues our series called, Freedom in the In-Between.

In art and film, heaven is usually portrayed as this ethereal place in the clouds full of harps and chubby cherubim. But, is that really all we have to look forward to in eternity?
