Baal Busters, Part 2
In the present politically-correct climate, Christians have become a target of ridicule, harassment, and legal nightmares. Those who stand firm in the faith find ourselves threatened by those hostile to the Bible. Yet we have been duly admonished to “earnestly contend for the faith once delivered unto the saints.” A contender is a combatant in a fight or contest, much like Gideon and Elijah were as they stood against wicked leaders and Baal worshipers. After winning his contest against the followers of Baal, Gideon was renamed “Jerubaal” which means “Baal contender.” We might say, “Baal Buster”! Later the prophet Elijah held a contest on Mount Caramel against 450 prophets of Baal, slaying them all. Wicked King Ahab called him Israel's “Troublemaker.” We are in the days of Elijah, and we are the Elijahs of our day. We too are called to be Baal Busters & Troublemakers!
