Turn Turn Away Part 2

The Christian life is full of ups and downs. Times where we’re living a God-honoring life, and other times where we’ve drifted and go back to the flesh. We see that played out in the life of Jacob today on Sound Doctrine. He’s backsliding. And you’re about to see what turning away from the Lord looks like, and it’s not pretty.

You’ve no doubt seen a sporting event that was a total mismatch from the word go. Perhaps it was the lowest seed playing the top seeded team. Today on Sound Doctrine we’ll take a look at the greatest mismatch of all. Jacob is about to enter into a wrestling match with God.

Today on Sound Doctrine we’ll see that play out in the life of Jacob as we get back to our study of Genesis. We’re continuing our study of Genesis, and our plan today is to complete chapter 31. Throughout this chapter pastor Jeff has observed God stirring the nest in Jacob’s life, allowing certain things to happen to move Jacob along! And you can be sure, the Lord will do the same for us at times. If we’re wise we’ll recognize it!

Your flight gets delayed! The boss says they need to let you go. Or you get a flat tire! It’s about that time that we might be tempted to throw a pity party. But consider this today on Sound Doctrine, it could very well be God stirring the nest. You’ll learn today that He very often interrupts our lives, to move us along to where He wants us to be. You’ll see that in Jacob’s life as we turn together to Genesis chapter 31.

We’ve been going through Daniel one verse at a time and in chapter nine we’ve dealt with 69 of Daniel’s 70 weeks thus far. That brings us today to the 70th week and as you’ll see this is something that hasn’t happened yet. And concerns Israel. Set aside the next half-hour with us as we see what God is up to in these last days.

We’ve been studying the life and times of Jacob here on Sound Doctrine with pastor Jeff Johnson. Recently we’ve learned about Jacob’s love life and then his home life. At this point Jacob isn’t where he needs to be, and so God is about to stir things up. And haven’t you found that to be true in your life?
