Jesus Christ is coming back soon. That is a fact. And yet until He comes, does the Bible tell us about what we’re supposed to be doing until He returns? Pastor Jeff tells us that those two themes are the reason for writing the book of 1 Thessalonians. With every chapter making reference to His return, there is much encouragement that God wants us to know and do as we prepare ourselves and others to see Him. We look forward to our time as we begin our study titled, “To Those Called Out: Faith, Love, and Hope” in 1 Thessalonians 1 with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

For every person that is born the “Why” question is at in one way or another. Why am I here? What is my purpose in life? To 1 Thessalonians” Pastor Jeff Johnson explains one of the reasons for its authorship was to encourage believer to live for Jesus and HIs soon return, both then and now. There is nothing we physically long for more on a hot day than refreshment. A cool beverage satisfies our bodies when we need it most. The same is true when we receive encouragement from what God is doing in the lives of those who serve Him. So it was with the Apostle Paul in the letter to the Ephesians. He wrote to give good news to the believers in Ephesus while he was in prison. Pastor Jeff says when we take the time to share those things that God is doing, others will be inspired to serve the Lord as well. This is one of the ways God raises up others to serve Him. So, let’s join Pastor Jeff in Ephesians 6 for our study titled

Praise reports, missionary updates, and answered prayer requests are all ways in which we, as believers, communicate what God is doing in various areas of life and ministry. They help us to know how we can pray and partner with those who are communicating with us. The same was true for Paul the apostle. As he wraps up his letter to the Ephesians, he was connecting with them regarding the status and needs that he had as he was serving the Lord. Pastor Jeff helps us to see the importance of communicating those needs to other believers for prayer support and other ways in which we can serve one another. With more, let’s join Pastor Jeff in Ephesians 6 for our study titled, “Paul’s Final Farewell - Part 1” in today’s edition of Sound Doctrine.

Fear can be paralyzing...if we let it. It was Mark Twain who said, “Courage is the resistance of fear, the mastery of fear, not the absence of it.” And Proverbs tells us that the fear of man is a snare. And so it is with the apostle Paul in our text today as he asked for prayer to speak boldly. Pastor Jeff Johnson helps us to see that if God was able to cause Paul to be bold, while in custody of Roman guards, regarding fear of his future, so too we should be able to master the fears that want to prevent us from doing what God has called us to do as His ambassadors. With genuine reflection as to how Paul encouraged him, Pastor Jeff shares with us today. So join us in Ephesians 6 for our study titled, “Paul’s Farewell” for today’s message in Sound Doctrine.
