The Power of Prayer Part 5b

January 28, 2020

Pastor Jeff Johnson is in the middle of a study in Acts, and as we return to chapter twelve we’re going to see what happens to those that oppose God’s work.  God’s retribution may not happen overnight, or go the way we think it should, but He always does what’s right.

In Acts chapter twelve God delivers Peter from a prison cell, right on the heels of the church praying for the situation. But have ever wondered why He doesn’t always answer our prayers the way we had hoped?  As we’ll see today, God has His reasons, and we might not fully understand them this side of heaven.

The Lord never promised us a trouble-free life! Rather He said we should expect persecution in our walk.  At this point in the early church tragedy strikes.  James was killed and Peter thrown in prison.  It’s interesting to note that the church would respond by praying.  Pastor Jeff will encourage us to do the same.

Once we become saved, and go about serving the Lord, it’s important to realize it’s not to be done in our own strength or by our own resources.  Rather it’s to be by the Spirit!  We see that beautifully on display in the Christians from Antioch!  You also can’t help but see that their conversion affected every area of their lives, including how they gave.
