We’ve all seen and admired those before and after shots of someone who lost a lot of weight, or experienced a total makeover.  Today we’re going to talk about something even more outstanding, as we take notice of the wonderful changes God brings to a human life.  We’re talking about the new you, in Jesus Christ, today on Sound Doctrine.

How concerned are you about holiness?  Some aren’t concerned at all about it, others go way overboard into unnecessary strictness, and still others have their own code of conduct!  But what does God have to say about our sanctification?  Or put another way, our walk in victory?  That’s what we’ll focus in on today on Sound Doctrine.  We’ve entered a practical portion of Romans, in chapter six.

When we left you last time, pastor Jeff Johnson was explaining how sin and death came into the world through one man, Adam!  But I’m glad to say, what Adam did to the human race isn’t the end of the story! God made a way to be saved, and that’s through Jesus.   We’re in Romans chapter five which explains who and what we are in Christ, by contrasting Adam with Jesus.

We begin Daniel chapter three on today’s program.  King Nebuchadnezzer is about to build a gold statue and command everyone to bow down to the image or die in a fiery furnace.  While most would comply, Daniel and three of his friends were not about to compromise.  Pastor Jeff urges us to adopt a life of no compromise.

We’ll be continuing a study in Romans, and cover some more ground in chapter five.  You remember the story from Sunday School I’m sure.  Adam and Eve were told not to eat of the forbidden fruit in the Garden, but they did!  And because of that one sinful act, it brought sin, death and condemnation into the world.   But I’m happy to say what Adam did to the human race is reversible.  And today’s study will make that abundantly clear.

If you want a good picture of what love is, look no further than God Himself.  He not only demonstrated His love to us, through the sending of His Son to this earth, but lavishly pours out His love into our hearts once we believe!  And it gets even better!  God wants to enable and empower you to love like He loves!  We’ll hear all about it today on Sound Doctrine, as we have another look at Romans five.

From the Greeks describing the different kinds of love, to Shakespeare’s famous definition, to today’s love songs, they all describe love from a human point of view.  It’s recognized that some loves are higher than others, but God’s love exceeds them all!  Our teacher pastor Jeff Johnson is going through the book of Romans.  In chapter five we’re told that God’s love is lavishly given to us when we come to Christ.

A good number of people are under the impression that when they come to Christ things will get easier and they’ll never encounter difficulty.  But the truth is, Christians will face tribulation and persecution.  Here’s something else you can be sure of… God will be with you in those trials, you have complete access to Him, and you can experience His peace as well.  We'll talk about it on Sound Doctrine as pastor Jeff Johnson digs deeper into Romans chapter five.

We’ve got a very interesting study all lined up for you today on Sound Doctrine, as together we open Daniel chapter two.  If you’ll recall Nebuchadnezzar had a dream, which Daniel is now interpreting.  We want to focus today on the fourth kingdom in this dream, described as iron mixed with clay.  It has ten toes!  Pastor Jeff Johnson believes this is speaking of a Revived Roman Empire that will assemble at the time of the end.
