Can there be any higher purpose and calling in life than to be a temple, a dwelling place for God? Nothing comes close!  We’ll be in Second Chronicles today that speaks of the building of the temple and the dedication of it by Solomon. It has a lot to say to us regarding our privileged position.

A favorite verse of many a saint is, “It came to pass.” It’s a good reminder that while we have tough times they don’t last forever.  And the Lord will see us through and finish what He starts. We’ll get a glimpse of that on today’s Sound Doctrine with pastor Jeff Johnson.

Portraits of Christ are scattered throughout the New Testament. But did you realize there are amazing pictures of Christ in the Old Testament?  Second Chronicles chapter four, contains one such portrait, and it is incredible.  Not long ago on Sound Doctrine we noticed the beauty of the Temple, but now we go on to consider the description of furnishings inside the temple.  All of this is a picture of Jesus.

God has had many great building projects through the years.  From the temple in the Old Testament, to our very own lives, and even in heaven too!  What He puts His creative hand to is truly amazing to behold, and today on Sound Doctrine we draw attention to the Temple that Solomon built.  A study of Second Chronicles three is ahead of us!  And while it describes the temple pastor Jeff Johnson doesn’t want us to miss what it has to say about God’s work in our lives.

Find your place in Second Chronicles chapter two.  Here Solomon, the new King of Israel, is making preparations to build a Temple for God.  It would be one of the wonders of the world at that time, where God would reside and people could experience the presence of the Lord.  It would take a lot of planning, wisdom and work to pull it off.

We’re just getting started in Second Chronicles on Sound Doctrine.  Pastor Jeff Johnson will be in chapter two.  And if you’ll recall David has died, and Solomon is on the throne. His task early on was to build a Temple for God, where people could experience the presence of God and worship Him!   We’ll see this was no small undertaking and required wisdom from above.

Jesus faced rejection when He was on earth, and so will we as His followers.  Perhaps we’ll be ridiculed, passed over for a job promotion, or maybe even looked down upon by our own family.  Today on Sound Doctrine pastor Jeff Johnson delivers encouraging words from First Peter, which was written to suffering saints.

It’s been said, “Things which matter most should never be at the mercy of things that matter least.” So we must have the right priorities and the wisdom to keep them. Today’s Sound Doctrine with pastor Jeff Johnson will help with that.
